New original pads?New pads on order from Thomann, then ready to hook up to the Mojo...
Let me know what you think of the sonic changes with the new cable. I got the Mogami 2893 cable (which has the same structure and build as the 2534, but is a bit thinner and more flexible), and it made my DT 150 with Chord Mojo a bit smoother and fuller bodied
Yes, original pads (the ones currently installed are about 7 years old).
i have also found that the new cable has increased smoothness and bass extension without sacrificing resolution. The DT250s are now a reasonable substitute for HD600s when on the move. If I want something more V-shaped, I use my modified T51p...

I actually think the DT 250s were smoother than my HD 650 when I had them, due to less distortion and less emphasis in the uppermids/lower treble.Yes, original pads (the ones currently installed are about 7 years old).

I’m very happy with the DT250s now! I still think the HD600s have the (very slight) edge in the midrange, and can accept their slightly higher grain for this reason.
I agree that the DT250s are now almost entirely grain-free.

BYW, even today, when I see video footage of outside radio broadcasts (BBC, NDR et al), guess which headphones tend to be worn...
... as I said previously “The Beyerdynamic DT250: the LS3/5A you can wear!”

I’m now hearing stuff on these (including room acoustics) which I can’t hear on the (identically-cabled) DT150. They are frighteningly good.

Personally I always found the DT Beyer drivers superior in fidelity to the HD 600/650 drivers given they are 250 Ohm or 600 Ohm variants. Though agree the midrange tone on the HD 600 series is truly excellent but there is definitely some grain and distortion which I find subtly fatiguing. I really need to get a DT 250 sometime as I’ve always wanted to try a pair. I had the DT 150 in the past and found it excellent, but my modded DT 480 - 200 Ohm (DT 48 in a DT 100/150 housing) kills my desire for the DT 150 except maybe for some spare parts.

I'm still using the same cable, Van Damme Miniature, which means it must be good.New original pads?

I don't expect any sonic changes out of it, so I haven't heard any. But it's 10 times stronger when running a chair over it.
It's definitely better than the stock one, which became stiff and hard just weeks in use. And it suffers from cold joints on the hp side - likely due to lead-free solder.
Although around 80000 s/n, beyer changed the cable from very heavy to just heavy.
3 years in, and the cable feels still like new.
Gonna recable my 3rd pair of DT250 with the same one of course...but maybe I'll choose a different color, and slap a microphone on one of the earcups.
BTW, the pads also changed material at about 85000 s/n mark

Just when some of you weren't convinced that DT250 are the best HP.

Perfect immunity to variable output impedance (less than 1dB @ 300Ohm), or the near perfect conformity to ISO 226-2009 curve

A very nice combination:
Xduoo X-10T ii / coaxial / Mojo / DT250/250 with Mogami 2534 cable (Viablue plug, Cardas solder)

Would a 6 pin DT 150 cable fitted in the DT 250 7 pin connector, cause a channel imbalance, as compared to using the standard plug?
To be honest I have no idea.

I’m using the same connector for DT150 and DT250.

Channel imbalance? No. It'll either work fine, with both sides connected properly, or not work at all.Would a 6 pin DT 150 cable fitted in the DT 250 7 pin connector, cause a channel imbalance, as compared to using the standard plug?
Not sure how this 6pin connector looks like, but the pinout used to be listed in service manuals.
