The ATH-CKS77.

It interesting that you say the xb90s have more rumble, as that's the one thing i thought the CKS77 lacked. Bass is too clean on the cks77, lacking texture, which makes the xb90s even more intriguing.

Yes i agree the cks99 by all indications seems to be an improvement over the cks77. The slightly larger driver should deliver more bass and dual chamber historically employed on the cks90 is fascinating. I hope the soundstage will be even bigger.

Just had a look and dont think I can buy them yet in the UK.

The XB90 the highs are rolled off so if your used to your treble being a good balanced part of your sound. The XB90 is somewhat reserved in comparison to the CKS77 or any of the Audio Technica earphones..I don't consider the highs lacking on the XB90 but it is perhaps the most un emphasised part of the sound on the XB90

Thank you.

Does that mean that you enjoy the ATH-CKS77's treble better?

The CKS77 I consider a good treble presence but is somewhat lacking in refinement.. I am sure you know what I am talking about since you own the Rockit R-50. The CKS77 is more consumer style sound more than an audiophile one. The highs are represented well on the XB90 but lack the extension or the sparkle of armatures. It is the mids on the XB90 that makes up for the lack of high presence on them. Plus I noticed once I amp them the XB90 goes to another level all together with even better highs than using it unamped.

They were like $194. Only the black pair but at this point I would rather get a little discount. It will end up being around $210 shipped to me which is not bad considering the cheapest ebay price is $250. Tenso has been a blessing and a curse.

My guess is the CKS99 will have more bass a bit looser sound over these. Usually higher end ATs tighten up the sound and what I am hoping will be a much refined bass earphone. Give me two weeks and once the dust settles down a bit on the FXZ earphones I will get around to do a write up on these CKS1000

Hello, I'm a newbie here and I have been reading this thread many times. I can't wait for your review at the ATH-CKS1000, I'm considering having a pair of ATH-CKS77 but I'd like to hear what you can say about the ATH-CKS1000. I wanna know if it's worth saving money for the CKS1000

Ya you and me both. I am somewhat worried about customs tax as I have it shipped with my AD900X. Any good deal I got will end up being washed up if I have to pay any customs tax. Got my fingers crossed.
