The Altmann Tera Player - Thread

The very first models will not play certain cards, also with the 2019 one that I have, the sound is smoother, more natural, very easy to listen to.
Cannot say much but definitely for me it sounds " better ".

I am curious about your reference point for comparison. Are you comparing to the "very first models"? Will the difference be less appreciable if the comparison is to a 2014 or 2015 model? Perhaps I should take my own advice and drop Charles a line.

I definitely do understand the reason why you have convinced yourself that the 2019 model sounds better.
However, I like to know what technical changes there are in the 2019 model.
The sound being "very easy to listen to" is just the typical trademark of the Tera-Player.

The thing that I know for sure, since 2014 the new random algorithm was introduced according to Charles. And there is more RAM for sure in the newer models, because I have done tests myself. The buffer memory seems to be bigger, as the light blinks less on newer models. Also now the player seems to be working with more cards then before.
I am not trying to convince anymore of the changes I hear in sound, after all is all about music. To be happy with the sound, is what matters most.

I will be more than happy to meet with someone and test side by side 2019 model vs 2013 or older.

Talking about battery life my old Tera only managed about 8 hours on a full charge today, was hoping it could manage 10.5 (commute+work+commute)

I wonder if it would do better with another card, this was a Kingston 64gb.

Was using Aurisonics Forte (1 BA, 1 dynamic, no crossovers) volume 2-4 clicks up depending how loud the album was and listening to full albums, so should have been pretty kind on the battery.

Loaded up my 16gb blue SanDisk and will try again, if it can't survive the day I'll be getting out the soldering iron.

Approximately 12.5 hours of music and my Tera is still playing happily - what a difference a card makes! Sadly the test ends here, have to charge it overnight or it won't be ready for tomorrow.

Any guesses what I'll get out of a 32gb Samsung?

As I said many times before, only the SanDisk SDHC blue class 4 will have the longest playback time, ( and many have been tested ).

Hi there, everyone! Has anyone tried to use iFi iEMatch with Tera in order to compensate its high output impedance (10 + 20 Ohms)? I'm a bit lazy to send it for the modification :)

A load of different ones, Tralucent Ref Too is very good pairing as well as Noble Khan.

The iffilter helps with pairings and amping with CV5 works well.
Thanks, I'm considering getting a tera as for the price I'm wondering how good it sounds
