Very interesting, i wasn't aware the CDM doesn't have an internal charging circuit. Out of curiosity, are you using the iPower2 because you don't have the stock charger or because you feel it is better?
I use the iPower2 when I'm not using batteries as I haven't noticed any degradation in sound quality compared to the battery. In addition, this is a power supply unit and in general it is created for this purpose. I would prefer to use something else for charging, as it needs a charge indicator and the iPower2 doesn't have one.

Got it. Maybe the iPower2 has an advantage over the stock charger based on the specs; 1.5A (stock) vs 1.8A (iPower2).

As far as working with an external source, it's not a big difference. iPower2 provides almost the same as the stock charger. A little better, and obviously stable. Or they can be compared to a battery in a state close to full charge. Because during discharge, the voltage drops from a maximum of 12.6 to 9.8V at the battery output. iPower2 instead provides a stable 12V pure current.

And it is not much different in terms of charging. I have a battery level indicator in the CDM and the stock charger charges it to 82%. iPower2 up to 89%. It's not that big of a difference. The maximum charge I reached was 92%.

This little cooling tower display stand took a while to design and get right. Furniture felt and gentle pressure from the shelf bridge hold the CDM to the solid brass heat sinks.

What kind of tubes are you using?
I can't write to you, we said a long time ago that you wanted to offer some tubes for CDM, let me know in private please.

Pretty sure they’re stock?

Phillips ECG JAN6111WA green label, if I’m not mistaken. Photo of subminis obviously not mine.

@Amadeo Nospherathu shipped me three of his best sets today from Ukraine. I haven’t tube rolled a portable amp yet.

These are very basic tubes that do not reveal the potential of the device.
Although, by the way, there is also a Sylvania 6111 Green Brand Vintage, and it is already a completely different sound.

I hope you will receive the parcel soon and enjoy it.

By the way, nice to see CDM with Meze. I've been listening to it with Empyrean, and it's a case where according to the specs, things shouldn't be good, but it's actually a great combo.

I did? I don't remember that..Sorry

I plan to keep CDM and CV5 and all my tubes. I asked earlier because I just want to take a picture of a FAMILY and display here....
If I plan to sell than the whole big package...as a whole.

You are on another continent, correct?

If you sell, let me know. Maybe you have some very interesting tubes that I don't have and it would make sense to buy the whole set from you.
Now, of course, I am interested in what you have. So I'm waiting for your pic.

My collection is not very big, but I'm always looking for something new (in the case of CDM, it's really a long-forgotten old one). Glad you have the CV5 too.

I have a friend in the USA who can send me anything.

Sonotone collection.
It took a lot of time, money, and attempts to put it together, but it was worth it. Of course, I will add to it later, as I know about some tubes that I don't have, but who knows how long it will take.

Sonotone 6111 - they've been talked about a lot, many people consider them to be one of the best. As for me, one of the best, but not the best. But really great sound. I've seen 3 versions of 6111, I currently have 2 with different designs (and sound).
The 6021 is a unicorn I've only heard of so far. Thanks to a good friend of mine, I was able to get a great pair, and for me they sound more interesting than the 6111, in a way combining the advantages of the two versions I have.
5719 - known as a living classic, an interesting holistic analog sound, which is a favorite for many CDM owners.
5718/6AK4. This is the first time I've seen a tube with such a different label. I managed to find out that it actually means that it meets the standards for both of them, so it is of higher quality. It's one of my favorites at the moment and has a very interesting sound - detail, but with the right accents, so the analog tube and warmth don't disappear here.
USN-COZ 5718. Military production, a pair made for the US Navy, and these are really one of my favorites.
Well, and more unusual things.
The 5840 is a very unexpected discovery that has fascinated me perhaps more than any other. The sound is clear and wide, with the necessary scale and sound quality. Now I enjoy them perhaps the most.
AF-5902. Again, military production, for the Air Force. These tubes are a bit longer than usual, so you can't just install them without some modifications. However, their sound is fascinating to me and together with the 5840 and 6021 they now create a magical trio for me, which has revived my interest in the device.
