The AKG K712 Pro Support and Impressions Thread

This is just a new update on my experience with this headphone, and my updated EQ. After a few hundred hours use, the sound has definitely changed again in the mid treble region . As a result, I have once again created an updated EQ set. Anyone who is using my previous EQ set should give this one a try. It sounds even better !!!!

160Hz: - 1
200Hz - 1
250Hz - 1
315Hz - 1
1.25kHz: + 0.5
2kHz: - 1
3.15kHz: + 2
4kHz: + 1
6.3kHz: - 1
8kHz: - 0.5
10kHz: + 0.5
12.5kHz: - 0.5
16kHz: + 0.5

After burning K712 pro for about 20 hours, composed of 10 hours of 40hz 0dBFS, 5 hours of 30hz 0dBFS, and 5 hours of 20hz 0dBFS, the rattling is still there during the sweep, and the actual burning process. I will continue to do the same for another 20 hours, but my expectations..about this rattling being tamed is not really good. But will do so anyways.

Any chance you can share the file for this, like you did a few weeks ago? That was pretty handy...

#039371 here. Huge headband - bigger than K501 and much bigger than K612.
Overall frequency response resembles me Etymotic ER6 (my long-time portable favourite). Definitely not too much bass, but you'll never miss a low note. Very crisp treble requires getting used to. Soundstage isn't perfect - I'd call it a typical AKG - wide, airy, not extremely pin-point, but more precise than K612 and K501.
the rattling is still there during the sweep, and the actual burning process. I will continue to do the same for another 20 hours, but my expectations..about this rattling being tamed is not really good. But will do so anyways.
Same rattle issue in my new K712 Pros. Left side rattles and I clearly see the diaphragm warping while playing loud low-fequency tones. 10 Hrs of 20 Hz sine wave did not help. I'm currenlty stress-burning-in the unit with a square wave tone.
While playing music (not test tones) bass is as clean as I could ever imagine.

Just got mine today! Running them off a Fx-Audio X6 (as a DAC) and JDS O2. I thought it was going to be bright sounding but it doesn't seem so to me (maybe a little on some songs). Like them straight out of the box, can't wait for them to burn in (if that's a thing). I was running V-Moda XS before this as well the Monolith M560 for a week (through the same combo) before both drivers died and had to return them for guarantee.

Had a little toke today because music for me becomes so much better and omg, heard details I hadn't heard before, listened to Rolling in the Deep and although vocals were not too upfront I could still hear those echoes. I really like them and was thinking of pairing them with an Audio gd R2R because I thought the headphone was going to be somewhat bright but I love how their sound so could go for an NFB 11.28 as they have the sabre chip in the DAC. The O2 can power them but for some tunes max volume (low gain) isn't quite there, the more I turn the volume up is like more detail comes out instead of volume. Apparently these are current hungry so I don't know if I should upgrade DAC and amp as I have also read that these scale really well.

Don't find them too analytical at all like others have said and really enjoyed my first listen (with a little help from :maple_leaf:). I'm still really new in the audio world, so just my impressions. Oh and I've also read in this thread about Schiit Wyrd making a big difference. So my ideal set up would be Mac >Wyrd >R2R 11 or NF 11.28 :triportsad: ? > K712. I read that these take well on a tube amp but too much hassle for now, R2R 11 is warm sounding apparently and will smooth it out (also better DAC). arggh. Sorry for the long post, cannot contain the excitement. I can't imagine these getting much better, that's why I want to upgrade my chain. Any advice/ recommendations? Will sound improve that much with Audio gd's dac/amp than from my current set up ($60 dac) (O2, which I have seen it called flat, boring and lifeless)?

This is my first post ever so..., sorry :)

I want to know your opinions on this pair, got them from an Australian seller, shipped from China but made in Slovakia I think they sound really good but I have seen other pairs with white serial numbers. In the box there are these Chinese stickers from the Chinese store they were in. Pic below and their website is www.actonchina.com, it looks like a legit website.

Your picture didn't make it in the post, but I bought my K712 on eBay and they shipped from China, made in Slovakia, and the serial number is printed in white / light grey on a piece connected to the orange headband wires, above the left ear cup.

@Lushy Brushy My box also has the ACTON TOM LEE sticker, and my serial number is written in the same fashion and in fact, also is an 032XXX number although distinct from yours of course, and the Made in Slovakia looks exactly the same on mine as well:

I had about a 5 hour listen with my K712 Pro tonight. Indeed, after a few hundred hours use, this headphone has finally presented its final sound signature it is capable of. I pulled out several albums for testing. It turns out that I once again have a new and updated EQ set. For those who have messaged me and used my previous EQ, and you all know who you are, here is my final EQ set for this headphone. This is the best one yet. This offers a completely balanced sound right across the frequency range. I think many people here will be amazed by the improvement over the stock headphone.

Pre-Amping: - 4

63Hz: + 0.5
80Hz: + 0.5
160Hz: - 0.5
200Hz: - 1
250Hz: - 1
315Hz: - 1
1.25kHz: + 0.5
2kHz: - 1
3.15kHz: + 2
4kHz: + 1
6.3kHz: - 0.5
8kHz: - 0.5
10kHz: + 0.5
12.5kHz: - 0.5
16kHz: + 0.5

Edit: Feel free to post your opinion if you try it.
