Tansio Mirai Impressions Thread

I forgot that I had Clarion Tri’s and actually put those on yesterday. A lot more comfortable than the PENON and stock tips for me. I didn’t notice any increase in treble either so they seem to work really well for me.

The Penon/Tansio websites say that the venting driver is removable (but not recommended to be disassembled frequently), could it be for that?
Nah, you can just pull out the venting module like on 64Audio apex modules. The little tool fits perfectly in the small hole in the vent though.

Good question. From my listening the ESTs on the Penon 10th they add a quality to the treble that is hard to explain. It's hard to find the right adjective. The ESTs add a certain 'liquid' quality to the sound of the 10th. Not particularly more details just a certain quality. The highs on the Penon 10th, to me, are beguiling. But to put the qualities of both IEMs into a comparison, the better bass resolution of the TSMR X makes them equally enjoyable and the X treble is also smoothly special. Different but equal. The ESTs add a little more musicality, but the two DDs make the TSMR X the most enjoyable bassy IEM I know and I've had quite a few bass specialising IMR IEMs. Both give me great pleasure and enjoyment.
in A:B testing the Sony IER-Z1R, I found the low end favors the Sony, but the vocals go heavily for the Penon 10th. If you've had the fortune/misfortune to try out the IER-Z1R, how would you compare them to the Tansio X ?

Alright guys, need some advice. I've had the X now for 2 weeks, bought used here, but it came with a 4.4mm termination on the Sands cable and I don't have a balanced output (Samsung S21 phone with PowerAmp app with Hi-Rez output), and have been using a couple of cables I have with it.

So, should I just buy a 4.4mm female to USB-C adaptor, OR is it worth the trouble of offering a trade on the Classifieds for a 3.5mm Sands / Land cable?

I won't mind the spicier treble with the Sands cable b/c I can use the 100 bass setting on the X.

Love the 'Bass' cable. Just ordered it for my 10th.

The same....vocals go to the 10th, treble different but equal, bass definitely to the TSMR X....very good quality bass. The IER-Z1R.....no idea.

I have both Z1R and the X (Just received it yesterday), both have somewhat similar U/V-shaped type of sound.
However IMO, X is even more V shape relative to Z1R.
On the bass side, X has more midbass, while Z1R has a better subbass.
On mid side, I think X is a little bit more recessed on lower mid part. But more or less they are both similar.
Onto treble, both have good extension. Z1R has a better timbre for me, the DD tweeter does wonder here.

I must say the X has a very tasteful V shape sound. Not the greatest mid, but for that I can always use my other IEMs.
The treble and the bass however is very very good.
It isn't pair well with DC Elite but pair really well with a more neutral sources like RME ADI2, RU6 in my opinion.

Currently still using the stock cable, might try to rolling for another cable later on.

I'm not sure if I fully understand the question here, but I don't see any reason to go out of your way to get a 3.5 mm Sands cable. Those who think that cables make a difference think the stock cable makes the treble too much, and those of us who don't believe in cables think the TSMR-X sounds good with any cable. So I think your options are then whether you throw on any old 3.5 mm cable or if you get a DAC with a 4.4 mm output to use your current stock cable? I think it doesn't really make a difference; for what it's worth, I run my TSMR-X through 3.5mm, a cheap Artti cable and a JCally JM06 Pro dongle for portability and think it sounds great.

If you would like a 4.4 mm DAC, I recommend the JCally AP10 as a budget option. But I don't see much point in that for this situation alone, particularly given the negative reception the stock cable has received from some folk (it sounds fine to me but then again, so does any old $10 cable).

EDIT: Re-reading this, maybe you're asking if you should go out of your way to get a stock cable with 3.5mm in order to maximise the treble as you like the 100 setting? I would say no. You're better off getting an AP10 to use the cable you have which also gives you a bit of versatility and more driving power for other possible sets. I would still recommend against buying anything though and continuing to use any old 3.5 mm cables you have. Have you also tried the 011 setting which I believe is bassier than 010, but will smother treble less than 100? Also, you said you're using PowerAmp - that's the EQ software I use, why don't you make any tweaks you want with that?

Thanks for the attempt! I probably wasn't very clear -- I went ahead and ordered a 4.4mm female to USB-C dongle so I can use the 4.4mm cable that came with my TSMR X with my Samsung phone. I have several 3.5mm to USB-C dongles already.

Ok, I have had a true epiphany switching to the TSMR cable with 4.4mm jack and a matching dongle to USB-C input I just got for it. The TSMR is on steroids now, a significant audio improvement. I'm hearing stuff in very familiar songs I've not noticed before, greater instrument depth and separation.

Makes me want to get another 4.4 balanced cable and USB-C dongle for my Ikko OH10, give it some extra juice!

Good to know - maybe I need to start playing around with 4.4 mm on my TSMR-X more! I've got a modular cable on it so I'll swap the termination at some point.

Thought this might be interesting to some people here, but I had the ZiiGaat Doscinco arrive today which I've been comparing a little to the TSMR-X. The Doscinco has warmer mids which are also a little smoother (Sonion BAs) and a bit more pleasant, but it comes at the trade-off of having substantially worse treble, detail retrieval, and soundstage (not to mention no tuning switches). On the big question though... I think the bass is more or less comparable between sets. Listening to the TSMR-X on the 011 setting, I don't see the Doscincos offering much over them. The bass on the TSMR-X truly is amazing. Just sharing this to say no need to buy the Doscincos for the bass alone if anyone was tempted - though if you wanted the TSMR-X's bass in a more relaxed set with smoother mids, they're still a good buy.
(disclaimer: I often do like to add a touch more warmth to my TSMR-X using EQ. 1.1 dB of gain in the lower mids @ 460 Hz, Q value 1.00 is all I use for the 010 and 011 settings. This addresses the TSMR-X's only weak point for vocal tracks, in my eyes).

Making the switch to the 4.4 cable has given me a 25% or more volume increase, but that may be from the new dongle I needed for 4.4mm to USB-C. TSMR X just seems crazy alive now!
