I am taking a step up from my Behringer MS40s that conked out on me.
I have come to the conclusion that Swans M200 MKII are the right choice for me. Here in the UK, they set me back £299 from a dealer.
Is there anything better in this pricerange that I'm missing?
They need to be powered as I don't have a DAC/amplifier nor do I have space for them. I will be listening to them 'nearfield' as they will be used as computer speakers and sometimes connected to my turntable. Bass response is quite a necessity, though as long as it punches reasonably adding a subwoofer on some time later is not out of the question. Once I buy these, I need them to last for a while (read durability) and ideally sound good enough not make me itch with upgradeitis for a solid ~5 years (asking too much, I know haha).
Additionally, the MKIII version costs £399...is there anyone who has heard both who can comment on the differences? Worth paying 33% more?
For comparison, my main critical listening is done on Westone 4s, and I adore their sound signature (though I do sometimes wish they had a bit more sub-bass impact).
