So my ever trustworthy senn pmx 60 finally died, in a most spectacular fashion: the cord ripped out as my knee hooked the cord standing up after class. :p I'm way out of warranty, which I was taking advantage of that free warranty since I live very close the to Canadian repair center.

I've always had issues with those cans, this pair was the 2nd replacement from the warranty. The l-shaped plug would always fray from being attached to my ipod touch in my pocket so the left would always break. Though the warranty covered it.

This brings me to my issue. I'm currently using the worst earbuds because they were cheap, they sound about as good as stock ipod earbuds and block sound about as well.

I take the train, bus and metro (subway to you americans :p ) to get to school and home in various combinations, so I need something that will block out most sound without having to destroy my hearing. The pmx 60s were fine though they did let sound through somewhat. Another would be the opposite issue: sound leakage, I'm in university, so if I don't want to get kicked out of the library I can't leak too much. :p Another issue is cord length, 1.4m approx, 1m is kinda short and 2.5m is way too long, I don't want to wad up the cord. I have a pair of sony mdr x100s that I only use at home because of their bulk and the cord length.

For types of audio: I listen to mostly rock, metal and jazz. For non-music I watch shows on my laptop and listen to podcasts during my commute.

I'm trying not to spend more than $60 total since I'm short on money, $80 would be pushing it. :frowning2:

I tried the HD 228s from senn a while back but they constantly slipped forwards down my face. Also they were expensive.

I'd rather have headphones, but unless they're like the PMX 60s it's hard to wear, so they should fold up and fit in my bag. If not earbuds are perfectly fine, I just feel weird about spending a lot of money on earbuds.

I would get another pair of pmx 60s but they're hard to find in stores and the breaking once a year is annoying.

It'd be preferable if I could get it through futureshop.ca or bestbuy.ca since it's likely I can find them in stores. If not, in Canada so the shipping is not crazy.

Wow, that was rediculously long and I'm sorry for making you read that. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I really want good audio again.

Hi Portaljacker,

You may want to consider PMX 90. It's a similar neckband headphone with an updated and sleek design. Below's the link from Sennheiser USA - http://www.sennheiserusa.com/private_headphones_mid-size-portables_502860

Hope this helps!

Holy crap! It has an actual seal around the cord! The 60 just lets the cord go through the side and uses KNOT to hold it in place! And the solder is super weak as well.

Is it bad to always leave it plugged into my ipod touch in my jeans pocket? or is pulling it out and putting it in the pocketwatch pocket a better idea? or just put it in my bag when not in use?

How about getting Koss KSC75?
