Hi Guys
I picked up a D100 the other day and thought I would add some comments.
I have 650s and 880s and am running it from one of my shuttle computer's optical out to a GS-1, M^3 and a Woo 3.
I find the sound signature to be very much like the 650s, so that turned out to be a bad combination. I listen quietly, around 9 O'Clock and and I can't hear the fine detail over the mid bass and the bass with the 650s. I can see why Stello added the treble boost to their amp. I also noticed that the bass boost signature is less, (or the mids and upper are more pronounced) when upsampling is chosen as opposed to the bypassed position.
The 880s are another story and there is plenty of detail with those but not as forward as I would like. It's too bad the 650-Stello combination has a muted, recessed, distant quality because I would like to evaluate it with them as well.
I have a DAC-AH, a Zhaolu D2, which is better, and a Constantine USB which is better still (as long as you don't intend to use the USB implementation) and now this Stello, which btw does not get more than slightly warm after being on all day, as opposed to the guys who reported it getting hot. Mine does not even come close.
Since these comments are after only one day, I will give it a good listen, but my gut feeling is that it's sound signature is not for me. Apparently I lean toward more analytical sounding DACs. Who would have figured?
Regards
