I'm not an audiophile or any kind. But I recently thought of improving my music on the laptop (considering my portable music player is my Vivaz phone...). I want to try a cheap amp that would fit my XB700s, and I found the Fiio E5. Does the E5 work on a laptop? How would I need to connect it?

PS. Main laptop i use is the Thinkpad X200s to bring to school. Got a Vaio Z at home as well though.

Off topic question:
What do you guys think of the SRS HD Audio Lab software? What about the Dolby Home Theater v3 built into the Vaio Z?

You can try the Headroom Micro Amp or the Headroom Micro Amp/DAC combo.

As for the Dolby Home Theater v3 - I am about to get a Lenovo notebook that has it. so I will give you a shout in a month or so when I have finally had good time to play around with it and check out the SQ etc
