DTE900 is a tough call for their current foreign pricing though…$750 for 4EST+4BA+1DD.

True even for $499 it wasn't that attractive as there are so many proven iems in that price range.
If the shipping value to the reseller is 2600yuans which means rough $370, they really should try to attract the market with reasonable pricing at least something like $400ish or even $450 ( which puts it's directly against ISN est50, totally different iem but still a beloved one ).

Just got my SR05. Holy moly! Without any break in I can tell this thing is worth SOOOO much more than $150. I have the Gaea in on the tour and , IMHO , this little beauty smokes it in every way. I'll report back after break in. Thanks to all that made the discovery

I did notice that the Penon page states that the SR5 contains 4 Knowles BA's whereas on Ali Express it's stating that the SR5 contains 2 Knowles and 2 Sonions. Personally, it doesn't make much difference to me, however, does anyone know which is correct? Or, potentially the drivers used has changed due to supply issues?

Actually, it's just one seller that is (likely mistakenly) stating they have Sonion drivers. Now that I'm looking at some of the images, it looks like they are all Knowles. Carry on - nothing to see here!

Penon selling them makes me considering the SR5. Btw. did you try the Serial once?

DTE900 goes for rmb4800 on taobao which is equivalent of USD$700 so Aliexpress price of USD$749, on paper isn't much of a markup. Also have to remember that Aliexpress charges sellers 5-8% commission per transaction. But yes, i do agree its a tough ask to be blindly paying that much on an obscure brand not many know of prior to the discovery of SR5.

At the moment I am listening to my SR5 on tubes with an R2R dac and a ton of dsp to make the sound even more analog sounding.

Don't say that or some people may get upset their $1300 buy doesnt measure up to the $150 buy.

But if you say it smokes the GAEA in every way, it just shows that EA priced their IEM based on their Brand and not how well it sounds and should price it accordingly.

I'm glad for market competition and I look forward to getting mines and see how it stacks up. So far for 4BA+1DD configuration I put Mega5P and B2/B2D over the Gaea.
