Hello guys.
Is there a significant sound quality difference between AK100 and AK240?
Also, how would you compare their sound to Ipod Classic 5.5 gen?

I have the 240 sitting side-by-side with my iPod Classic. As much as I love the UI of the iPod there is no comparison. The sound of the 240 is so much superior. And my classic is amped and "daced". The 240 is an incredible device. Of course there's a bit of difference in cost, so "it aughta' be" .

thanks for your reply. I see. I have guessed that. But carrying a super expansive device like that isn't good for me. I'm thinking about getting an AK100 2nd gen. Do you think there's a big sound quality difference between AK100 and AK240?

cool, that really makes me want to buy AK240. If it was not 2500 dollars, I would buy it right away. I have bad memories with portable music players. Last time, I dropped my Cowon X7 to a puddle and it died on the spot. I don't want this to happen to a device that costs 2500 dollars.
I hope AK100 2nd Gen has comparably good sound.

The AK100II and AK120II have comparable sound quality. Is it the same, no. Is the difference worth the extra money --> your call

I would say the AK100II is a huge step from a regular player (read mobile phone). The AK120II is halfway towards the AK240. I actually always preferred a dual dac set-up (also with the first AK100 and AK120), so I always went with the 120 after comparing.

The AK240 is not really something to consider when you're not crazy about music, details and in the end DSD.
