Sony NWZ-ZX1 - 35th Walkman Anniversary model

I don't know about the rest of the other ZX1 owners but personally for me, I find it hard not to rack up some hours on it 'cos it's my favourite player in my collection. I've already sold my AK120, and thinking if I should sell my Tera, HM-901, & Venturecraft DD/Apex Glacier set. The only thing holding me back is that each one of those have their own purpose.

BTW, GoodVibes's speculation of why the ZX1 may be perceived as sounding a little U-shaped could be due to it sounding dry. 3 weeks later, I'm still not certain if I'd agree if this is the cause.

This is it isnt it?
We spent thousands just to find out we are happy with a £500 player:)£)
And i was about to maybe try the 901..now i wont.
After the AK's, Ibasso's,Tera's and many more i totally agree with you sir and am walking in your shoes..
ps.especially with pha-2's help

The Empire strikes back......

I'm currently listening to the ZX1 with my NT-6 Pros, and I am continuously amazed by the clarity of the IEMs and the combo is great. There are times when some harshness in the treble come out but besides that it is an amazing combination.
I find the ZX1 close to perfection but the trebble is a little harsh when paired with bright iems like my NT6...

So if the treble harshness is not a big deal, it is the perfect dap?

Well, if the treble was rolled off to cope with the very brightest iems, it certainly wouldn't be!
A DAP cant be absolutely perfect for everyones individual iems or ears

Like I said...perfect with warm to neutralish iems... a bit fatiguing with brighter iems.

So it is basically perfect for me

A dap needs to be as linear as possible. When would the roll off have to begin and how much decibel? You could discuss that for years and would not get to any agreement.

Err.. That was an early april fool's joke man..

I do like the NT6Pro with the ZX1 a lot, I havent encountered terrible harshness though, of course coming from the 1plus2 harshness... :) i got used to it i guess.

They probably won't release it in the USA

I just can't imagine the general public paying upwards of 900 dollars for a music player. Sony sells to the crowd. Honestly I don't even think the F880 would sell very well in USA.

HIFI isn't really that popular here in America, the standard is (good enough) aka ipod

Which is too bad! And why I love Japan...

Though there might be a chance.. BH just stocked the XBA-H3 and the Fostex HP-A4...

purk how are you finding the zx1 vs dx50? worth the extra £350?

For me "yes", I think it worth the upgrade.  However, the DX50 is pretty great deal though for what it can do and sound at its price point.  IMO, it is likely the best deal in DAP right now.  It came such a long way from 1st firmware though.  The biggest improvements over the DX50 are in the sound stage width, resolution, and bass depth as well as the resolution and details.  The ZX1 is just better in all areas beside maybe  the depth of stage.  My ZX-1 only have 100 hours under its belt so I'm hoping that the depth of the soundstage will get better soon.
