I've had a pair of these sitting useless on a shelf for a year now because the audio from both channels cuts out unless i hold the cord at a very specific angle. If I recabled this would it fix the problem?
 
At first only the left channel would cut out and I could listen to them by hanging the cord from the excess adjustment band, but then the right started doing the same and I can rarely manage to get that one to work now. If someone has any experience with this I'd love some input. Thanks!

Yes it is a known issue and a proper recabling should solve it (the stock cable is not very nice anyway).
