I'm looking for some cheap all round headphones and came across the Sony MDR MA300. They cost Rupees 1,300 in India, which is about $25 which is really cheap. I couldn't find a proper review anywhere online. I've read that open back headphones sound more natural and airy. Also I'm not in a loud environment and leakage of sound is not a big deal either. I also came across the MDR MA100 but it had a slightly smaller frequency range.
I currently own a pair of Panasonic RP-HTF600 and the right side driver got deformed causing uneven frequency response between the two sides. Also the panny's were a little too airtight which makes them uncomfortable for long periods causing my ears to get warm.
I'm mainly looking for clarity in music, a brighter warmer sound and moderate bass as I don't listen to bass heavy genres such as Hip-Hop or Club music. I listen to a lot of Classical, Classic Rock, Jazz and some more instrumental music. I'll also be using it while playing guitar and gaming. I won't be watching movies on them anyway.
I want to know if these headphones are value for money or do you have another suggestion within the price range of $25.
