Something like the Senn HD 25-1 but smaller, for iPod use?

Yeah, yeah, another "I want headphones for my iPod" thread. I love my Senn HD 25-1 for use while commuting with my 2 year old 30GB iPod but sometimes wish they were a bit smaller, so that they wouldn't take up as much space in my bag and so I don't stand out too much in a crowd.

I was thinking that something like the Senn PX100 or PX200 may be suitable or maybe even some Koss KSC75's. I don't know because I haven't heard any of these. AKG's or Beyers? What do you guys suggest as a side grade from the Senn HD 25-1? I don't want it to be too much of a downgrade and I want them to have a good amount of bass, without messing up the mids.

I listen to hip-hop.

PX100s.

Sound great and very bassy without being muddy. I bought a pair of these last week for my iPod nano.

Suit rnb/hiphop music quite well.

I owe px100 and auditioned hd25-1. px100 are nice and very light, but soundwize they are from the different league. I would rate hd25-1 slightly over sr225, for example. And I prefer px100 over portapros, see the difference. Never listen to hip-hop though.

First things that come to mind are definitely AKG K26P and Senn PX200. Then there's the Audio Technica model at audiocubes ATH-ES5 which are supposed to be higher in sound quality compared to PX200 according to HF reviews but they're pricey at $105+ship and not as comfortable.

Add: Your ears will literally feel the extremely boomy bass on the AKGs. Not a balanced can - you probably won't get anywhere near the balanced midrange that you might be looking for. I would go with PX200.

I would rate hd25-1 's sound quality around sr80 level

I switch back and forth between the HD 25-1's and a pair of UM2's depending on where I'm going and what I'm going to do. Love the PX 100 and the Porta Pro's but they don't do well if there's a lot of outside noise and there seems to be a large drop in SQ with closed cans at that size. I'd consider a pair of IEM's to alternate with the Senn's. Works well for me.

Thanks for the replies.

I’m after a smaller headphone than the Senn HD 25-1, for use with in iPod, that has good bass output.

So far the following have been suggested:
ATH-ES5
PX100
ATH-ES7
k26p
PX200
Westone UM2

I’ll investigate the options.

I haven't heard the HD25 SP, but I have read that they sound quite different.
