I just decided to go ahead and look further into encoding FLAC and see how much different they are from my mp3s. But how come I can't use Kernel Streaming in Foobar2000 when I play .flac files? I can only use waveout, which plain sucks. I extracted a track from my cd using CDex, then encoded it with FLAC frontend.

Another question: I noticed after I encoded from wav to flac, i got a "General Error: 1" message in the DOS Prompt window. What does that mean?

Are there any guides how to use FLAC frontend?? I couldn't find any! I have no clue if there's any difference in sound quality by raising or lowering the FLAC level setting in Encoding Options.

I don't have any experience in the FLAC frontend, as I use EAC in conjunctio nwith the comandline encoder.

I'm not familiar with your error with Kernel Streaming, either, as I use ASIO.

But I CAN tell you that there's zero differece in sound quality at the various FLAC compression levels. The higher levels just take a longer time to encode each track, and result in slightly smaller filesizes.

I also use the command line for FLAC, and have no problems.

If you're having trouble with kernel streaming, check other files...FLAC should have nothing to do with that--it is well before the output.

Hi aznpride101

Haven't used the flac frontend. I'm using Plextools for flac and there is no problem with kernel streaming in foobar2k.
