His last three albums have been particularly fantastic, so I'm looking for artists who make music in the same vein as those. Male or female, and I'm mostly interested in people who came on the scene around the same time or later, as I believe I'm familiar with his predecessors, though I'll take those recommendations too. Thanks.

Yea, Joe Henry is one of the good ones. I honestly like the Trampoline/Fuse/Scar trilogy better than the latest ones, but no denying the high quality, and especially the great musicians around him. Here's 20 albums from about the last 10 years that I like a lot and that are roughly the work of one singer/songwriter type, though not many are quite the same as that jazz and roots fusion that Henry has moved into.

Paul K & The Weathermen (Paul Kopasz) - Love Is A Gas
Richard Buckner - Devotion + Doubt
Richard Davies - Telegraph
Lucinda Williams - Car Wheels On A Gravel Road
Silver Jews (Dave Berman) - American Water
Bonnie "Prince" Billy (Will Oldham) - I See a Darkness
Me'Shell NdegeOcello - Bitter
Songs: Ohia (Jason Molina) - Didn't It Rain
Chris Whitley - Rocket House
Nina Nastasia - The Blackened Air
Neko Case - Blacklisted
Woven Hand (David Eugene Edwards) - Blush Music
Cat Power - You Are Free
Willard Grant Conspiracy (Robert Fisher) - Regard the End
Honeydogs (Adam Levy) - 10,000 Years
Andrew Bird - The Mysterious Production of Eggs
John Vanderslice - Pixel Revolt
The Mountain Goats (John Darnielle) - The Sunset Tree
Josh Ritter - The Animal Years
Richmond Fontaine (Willy Vlautin) - Thirteen Cities

Thanks a lot, I'll be sure to check out the albums I haven't already heard from this list.
