Shure KSE1500 Review - Shure KSE1500 Sound Isolating Electrostatic Earphones

what if you monitor with the 846 and listen to the mix on the KSE1200?
It will be ok. What's the point of paying so much extra money?
With this money, it is better to buy a good audio source and just remove the cover from the white filter of the se846. And you will get a very accurate and correct sound where there will be exactly as much detail and transparency as it was when recording. If there were more details when recording, then se846 will give more too. Why get exaggerated detail if it is not in the mix recording?
I'm not saying that KSE is bad, I just don't understand why spend money on it if there are already perfect se846s, just give them a very good audio interface.

What if you made a little extra money at the casino? Why not treat yourself with something more exotic than the run of the mill IEM?

Maybe :) I love shopping, especially expensive ones. But when it comes to equipment, I try to be very economical and practical.
For example, recently, I needed full-size headphones. I listened to different, very expensive ones for me up to $3000 But I bought Neumann NDH 30 and Adam SP-5. Because I heard in them the necessary correct and clear sound over the entire frequency range. And it was also very accurate in stereo and soundstage width.
Audeze, Focal and other heavy hats couldn't give it all together :)
And I compared it all with se846 - and it was at the same high level, only small and mobile only in the ears

I'm not a recording professional, just an audiophile that had a really good day at the casino. If I hadn't won a bunch of money, I'd probably have gotten the 846, or something similar.

I’ve not tried the 846 but the kse1200 are the best iem I’ve ever tried. Actually one of the best audio purchases I’ve ever made

the 846 doesnt play in the same league as the 1200..silly discussion...perfectly fine IEM but 1200 far superior

Perhaps I'll change my opinion a little bit. SE846 might be more accurate (MAYBE), but KSE1200 is 1000x more enjoyable.

why 1200 and not 1500?
Kse1500 doesn’t have the best dac. You can pair the kse1200 with a better dac plus it’s cheaper

Yep. The DAC. Not the greatest but no slouch. However, to some degree, amps will stand the test of time. I had the 1500 and preferred using it line-in with a high end source so moving to the 1200 was a no brainer. Plus, I had both for a while and I swear the 1200 sounds a little better than the 1500. I am 0.00001% s(h)ure I'm correct on the sound difference.

Regardless of accuracy, the driver speed of the kse 1200/1500 really shines when the music is busy, Prog rock can be challenging to dynamic and ba drivers and that is one genre where the kse’s really prove their capabilities.

I'm sad to say that I have returned my Kse1200, the problem I mentioned before,
1. After I turned the amp on, regardless of the dB settings or what volume the amp/ source it is connected to are, heck it still sounds even when the 3.5 cable in the Line In isn't connected to anything. It also doesn't happen if the amp is turned off, so it's not loss of seal/ eartip problem, I've tried changing to other silicon and the included 2 foams, yellow and black comply-like.
2. "Squeaking~" sound which come out of the Right driver after I turned on the amp and it persisted, albeit in a random fashion.
It doesn't Always come up but when it does, it's quite distracting, like I can hear a mouse squeaks on my right side on quiet songs 😂
3. I suspect it's more on the driver than on the amp, as when the symptom occurs, I can exacerbate it by pulling on the right side's cable, or simply touching the iem when it's inside my ear, so it basically squeaks when it's moved in any way.

How it's random is basically why I returned it, as if it's so, I can't anticipate it in any way, it's also only on the R side, L side is dead quiet. I just can't commit to it with how much it cost. For the last couple days of the return period I feel like I became paranoid whenever I'm using it, like waiting for it to happen, I ended up trying to listen to it too much that I feel I had a tinnitus for the whole day. 🤣

The KSE is still my end game target, I'd pick it up again when I got another opportunities, just not this pair.
It's so atmospheric and it's ability to image each and every song so differently with such a great imaging, layering and instrument positioning I just can't help wanting it again in the future, I had been using my Z1R for months and can agree that it's one of its perfect compliments, a pair to conquer all genre I listen to.
It have the perfect in ear fit and comfort for me too, that and it's isolation really is its greatest strength.
That's what make it such a heartbreak having to return it, when I already fell in love with its sound. 😢

Weakness of the KSE I catch so far :
It does need good source, it barely edges out my 9YO IM04 out of my LG V60, I also prefer the female vocal representation out of my AT more than the KSE, I feel like the KSE render it too lean and "raw", but again, out of the V60 there, sad that that was my last listen to it, sitting in front of the post office packaging the box up inside my car.
BUT, I do remember when connected to my Tazzy, man, it competes with flagship full size easily.
The KSE certainly isn't great for quiet classical music out of underpowered smartphones either, nearly maxing out both my Xperia and it's own amp when I'm listening to Ray Chen's Golden Age album.

That, really is the only thing I'm hoping Shure would improve, the Amp. Can't they release a successor with a much better amp that's compatible with both the old and new please?
It's a revealing experience owning it for a brief time, now I'll be on the lookout for new opportunities to Buy it Again. 😊

I'm still surprised at how many people, for the sake of getting the illusion, easily part with money for something that is not worth it at all :) And these are not empty words, I have tried a lot of expensive equipment related to working with sound and I can say that audiophile equipment is just emptiness, for big money. Just buy professional equipment for real money and don't chase stupid illusion :)
