The KSE is still my end game target, I'd pick it up again when I got another opportunities, just not this pair.
It's so atmospheric and it's ability to image each and every song so differently with such a great imaging, layering and instrument positioning I just can't help wanting it again in the future, I had been using my Z1R for months and can agree that it's one of its perfect compliments, a pair to conquer all genre I listen to.
It have the perfect in ear fit and comfort for me too, that and it's isolation really is its greatest strength.
That's what make it such a heartbreak having to return it, when I already fell in love with its sound.
Weakness of the KSE I catch so far :
It does need good source, it barely edges out my 9YO IM04 out of my LG V60, I also prefer the female vocal representation out of my AT more than the KSE, I feel like the KSE render it too lean and "raw", but again, out of the V60 there, sad that that was my last listen to it, sitting in front of the post office packaging the box up inside my car.
BUT, I do remember when connected to my Tazzy, man, it competes with flagship full size easily.
The KSE certainly isn't great for quiet classical music out of underpowered smartphones either, nearly maxing out both my Xperia and it's own amp when I'm listening to Ray Chen's Golden Age album.
That, really is the only thing I'm hoping Shure would improve, the Amp. Can't they release a successor with a much better amp that's compatible with both the old and new please?
It's a revealing experience owning it for a brief time, now I'll be on the lookout for new opportunities to Buy it Again.
