My E4cs just broke after two years of 40 hour a week use. I liked them for their compact size and their accurate delivery. The ergonomics of the headphones was nice as well. I'm existing on my E2Cs (backups) but I'm looking for something better. What's the best "bang per $" for an audiophile that's going to "run the c@##$" out of his IEMs. I'm listening to a Cowon 7 16Gb by the way.

You won't get the best 'bang per $' with Shures. Look into other IEMs such as the ER-6i, q-Jays, im716...
