This probably has been done and discussed, but I tried my Shure tri-flanges, ety tri-flanges and bi-flanges on my Shure E2.

My views:

1) Shure tri-flanges: bassy, with serious treble roll off. Very dark sounding. Cloudy. Yuk
2) Etymotic tri-flanges: still bassy, the treble is rolled off but better than with the Shure tri-flanges. Still cloudy and Yuk, but tolerable.
3) Etymotic bi-flanges: best sound out of my E2 using flanges. The balance between bass, mids and highs is just right for me. The mids are a bit forward that what I really like and the highs are still a bit rolled.

So the ETY Bi flange fit right on to the E2?

Does the ER6i inserts fit the same? I found some online for those that are double flange.

the reason they are bassy w/no treble it due to the opening in the eartip being smaller than the eaphone's opening (and also why they are impossible to get on).

i've actually gotten the ety tri-flanges onto the super.fi's and sony ex-71 (way harder than the e2's), and they also sound horrible.

i don't really see the added benifit of this, either. IMO, the e2's go in plenty deep, and seal easily, i guess it's just preference.
