Tbf without taking it apart I can't be 100 percent sure. The realistic has exactly the same 4 core flat cable as ath-8, same earpads construction(vinyl vs pleather) though there is a possibility that the accessories are OEMed by some third party.Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm quite sure the Pro30 has nothing to do with AT..... but the visual resemblance is curious.... never noticed that before.

I've owned a handful of other vintages with almost identical cables, so I don't think that's an indicator.Tbf without taking it apart I can't be 100 percent sure. The AT is an electret, with (as far as I know) an in-house made electrectret driver.
The Pro30 contains a planar driver by Sawafuji (SFI) which was OEM'd in many brands, including the very same Audio Technica pictured in the middle of the pack.
I don't remember if they had different model numbers, but that middle model also came with dynamic drivers... they were basically identical on the outside.
you got a point, although personally I haven't seen any other headphones other than ath 7/8/70/80 and signet TK33/44 using this exact same cable. Maybe the realistic is OEMed by sawafuji and AT bought some parts from them. The middle one is ATH-2 which comes with a box saying its "planar moving coil", pretty sure ATH-1/2 are ortho but iirc there are some rebranded ATH-1/2 chassis floating around. No idea what drivers are in those.I've owned a handful of other vintages with almost identical cables, so I don't think that's an indicator.

Nice, sounds like you have the planar version, which should be better than the dynamic.you got a point, although personally I haven't seen any other headphones other than ath 7/8/70/80 and signet TK33/44 using this exact same cable. I've owned the identical OEM of it by Vivanco, and it was horrible ^_^ ... all the SFI headphones I heard were better.
ath-2 actually my most enjoyed unmodded vintage ortho right now lolNice, sounds like you have the planar version, which should be better than the dynamic.

I took apart the ATH-2 and Pro 30 today, unfortunately the ATH-2's drivers seem to be glued in so no front picture. But the construction look very SFI-esque. Both are well dampened though using different materials.

Great pair of Headphones.T70 (250ohm) with EDT 1770 Velour Coolmax pads, is the best vocal "old" Tesla.
It looks cool with DT1770 Pro headband.
My Sony overear collection, subjective preference pretty much from right to left.
really beautiful cans but any good though?
Peak Monitor headphone aesthetic, what an Era!
You wouldve looked period with a Casio.

How do you like the CD900st? I had one (about 10 years ago) and used as my portable.
