 DjAmTraX.......I really like my Denon DVD-2800.  It use to be my office DVD player, but I moved a Panasonic Blu-ray player in here when I put the Oppo BDP-83 in the living room, so the Denon is now just used as a CD player to feed my headphone amplifier.  One of the features the DVD-2800 has that I like is it decodes HDCD.  The combination of the Denon DVD-2800, Musical Fidelity X-Can V8P, and the Sennheiser HD600's with the Stefen AudioArt Equinox cable makes for a most enjoyable headphone rig.

I am not a fan of HDCD, but I do use my Denon DVD-5910 as a DVD-A and SACD player for headphones use.  Pairs nicely with Lehmann Audio Black Cube Linear and Sennheiser HD600.

DjAmTraX.......Pacific Microsonics developed HDCD, and it was made publicly available as HDCD-enabled audio CD's in 1995.  There are over 5000 HDCD-encoded titles available, and being able to take advantage of the equivalent of 20 bits worth of data in a 16-bit digital audio signal is something I want to be able to do when the disc is HDCD-encoded.  I have quite a few HDCD-encoded discs.  They play as standard redbook CD's when a player does not support the HDCD decoding, so everyone wins. 
 
Microsoft bought Pacific Microsonics in 2000, and has included HDCD decoding in Windows Media Player 9, 10, and 11.  HDCD decoding will work on computers with a 24bit sound card installed.

Your thoughts on the two? When I had the DT990 600 Ohms I really liked the sound. Very crisp and good solid bass.

DjAmTraX.......Your Denon D7000 looks beautiful.  How would you compare their sound to the Sennheiser HD800 that you had for a short while?

I think they're both great headphones, but the D7000s win in my heart.  The Dt990 doesn't have the liquid, warm sound that the D7000s do.  The treble tends to be hot, and it seems much crisper in comparison to the D7000s.  The Dt990s can't quite deal with classical or vocal-heavy music like the D7000s because of the treble issue.  They have a similar sound signature overall, but the Dt990s lack the bass power and treble sparkle that the Denons do.  In fact the Dt990s can be fatiguing in comparison.

Well... since you asked. I am really regretting letting the HD800 go. The D7000 is a far better headphones for all around types of music. The HD800 has a large sweet sound that I kinda missed. I do have a pair of HD800 lined up for me to pick up at the original lower price, but I have a larger purchase first so it has to wait a bit.

I recommend giving the D7000 a try if you haven't. It's a GREAT headphones for the money. Street price is around $600.

DjAmTraX.......I am not surprised that you want to revisit the Sennheiser HD800.  You barely gave the one you had a decent audition, much less put enough hours on it to say it was truly broken in.  I was quite surprised at how quicky you parted with the HD800.
