I currently run my TF10s (and occasionally M50s, soon to be CKM50s) out of my iPod Nano 3G/3GS to a FiiO E5 via an L1. Would it be a very noticeable upgrade in sound quality over the 3GS and/or the Nano? I'm looking at the Sansa Clip+ 2GB; money's tight right now, so I can't really try it without buyers' remorse.

Exactly what are you asking that would be an upgrade over your 3Gs or Nano? You only mentioned your headphones/IEMs and not the other source you want to use?

Well considering Rockbox and the EQ presets you can gain with the clip it may very well be worth the cost. Aren't they relatively cheap as is?

If your funds are tight and you are satisfied with your ipod just stick with it and don't worry about it. In the meantime you can save up your money and get something in the future that will really be worth the upgrade :).

With the $30 Clip+ you could add a $20  32GB microSDHC and have a great $50 34GB player. I don't know about the sound quality of the ipod as I never used one. The Nano has 16GB or less of storage.
