I am a little bummed that these will not function as a DAC for the iphone.
Hi,
I've listened the M1 at the Canjam in London - and the M2-M5 -, and I'd love that very small, lightweight cutie.
For sound my favourite is the Qp1r. I've listened all A&K, AR m-2, Fiio-s, Lotoo-s and some more from entry class like, Xuelin 770, Xduo x2.
I'd like all of the three Shanlings. They have not a unique or engaging sound signature, but flat EQ with clear sound, and all of them have premium body housing, user friendly and lagging free menu and navigation.
The M1 has less power in sound than the M2-M5, a little bit softer, but still enjoyable and hifi sounding, easily noticeable better than an average mobile phone sound.
Consider for its design - really small, user friendly lags free navigation, good built quality - , I can say this small player is worth every cents you spend on.
