What would be the better way to go?
 
PC>Turtle Beach Micro DAC/AMP>Optical>Bifrost>Lyr>LCD2
 
or
 
PC>USB>Bifrost (RCA jacks)>Lyr>LCD2
 
 
In other words will the optical out on a cheap usb dac/amp like the turtle beach help or hinder the chain?

Go with what sounds best to you!  From my limited experience, I would often say less is more in terms of things in your chain (USB>Bifrost>Lyr>LCD-2) but in the end, your ears are all that count!

but why would you go through an AMP/DAC and bypass both the amp and the DAC and then input into another DAC.  There are probably a few format changes in there too you probably don't want.  It just seems strange.
