Hello,

Is there a more rugged Sennheiser PX-100 equivalent? My teenage daughter loves them but they don't last more than a year and I can never find the receipt to send them in for replacements.

Seems like there s no other haedphone in their price range.

any suggestions would be welcomed.

Thanks

If you want identical sound without all the fragile joints theres the PMX100 (behind-the-neck). As an alternative there are the iGrados which are pretty sturdy and also sound pretty darn good.

For over-the-head there are the PortaPros that are more durable (and come with a lifetime warranty).

There's also Koss KSC75's as a cheaper but still great-sounding alternative (also lifetime warranty)

theres a 2nd version of the PX100 called PMX100, its the same headphone but with a igrado style behind the neck band instef of the over the head one, but from what you say, discarting the headband all togather would be best, in that way, the KSC75 are your best bet,

Thanks everyone. I'll look into the suggestions. The problem with my PX100's is not with the headband but with the connector (I think). They simply stop transmitting sound in one channel and it seems the male plug is defective.

Perhaps look into the Koss Portapro - It's a pretty old school-looking and popular headphone around head-fi.

If the problem is with the connector, you might just need something that has a right-angle plug instead of a straight one. Off the top of my head that includes the KSC75, Soundmagic P10, and Panasonic Slimz.

I've had the same problem. My first set lasted ~2.5 years. My second set lasted 6 months.

I've already made a thread about this, but I think the new-style PX-100 plug is even more fragile than the old one.

Well I'm sending my pair back for replacement under warranty. We'll see how long they last. Meanwhile I'm shopping for other headsets. My daughter loves her Audio Technica ADH-700's but can't really wear them outside the house.
