Oh I'm sure there's someone nutty enough to buy them. The near-sacred status enjoyed by the flagships of yesteryear and the recent popularity of "high end headphones" will see to that. Maybe not $38,000 nutty, but somewhere up there.
My understanding was that it was the entire set, matched, and never used. Hence the extreme price. More of a collectible thing. If it's just the amp then I retract my previous statement and submit that Doug is absolutely right. I don't read whatever language that page is in though, and Google Translate did nothing for it either.
The Aristaeus beats the HEV90 in every catagory(IMO) except for looks and that overly warm, romantic, gooey sound that we all seem to like from time to time. I would love to own one as an accompaniment to my HE90/Aristaeus rig but not at these prices, especially knowing I have an amplifier that owns it in every regard. Gary
