* Made in Romania *

Very happy to read that Sennheiser is building a factory in Romania, the fourth. Others are located in : Germany, Ireland and USA. It will be located in Brașov, Romania and will be ready at the end of this year. Not really sure if HD820 will be manufactured there, but this is great news.
Looking forward to more video reviews.

Well, this is interesting XD

Me likey XD

Hi Sennheiser.

Am really interested in the closed function of the HD820, and am close to placing order with Hi-Fi Lounge, UK.

At present I am using a special-tubed, OTL headphone amp to feed Beyer T1s, whose performance has been upped by my use of UP-OCC solid silver and copper wires for replacement hp cable (as did another using Hugo2 and HD800; and another with Holo Spring DAC, T1s and Ether Flows).
I know Focal Utopia, like yourselves, use OFC wire...but there are aftermarket upgrades that cost a great deal of money - some reviewers stating that they do in fact bring certain definite benefits, even if not strictly value-for-money!

I would love to know if such benefits might also apply to the HD820, even though they already come supplied with very good cables.

Many thanks in advance for any such information!
The cables that are supplied with the headphone will provide excellent audio response. However, if you choose an alternative cable and you perceive enough value, then by all means enjoy an alternate cable. A properly made cable is not going to hurt the headphones!

"will be made"? What are they waiting for?
Thank you for the opportunity to elaborate.
The HD 820 will be released in a finalized version this summer. The HD 820 that we are bringing to the shows has some parts hand-tooled including the cable connectors, and we have made some minor revisions since making those demo units as well, for example a more refined frequency transition at 100 Hz. We want to have some units to demo so people have a chance to try the HD 820 at major audio events before they go on sale, and meanwhile production and distribution takes time as well.

Thia is getting to be a habit with headphone companies.

AFAIC these boxes are useless. They stay in the attic until I sell the headphone. If they mailed it in a bag I'd be happy.

At least a bag is useful.

Raised by parents who always encouraged us to speak out/up when we saw something wrong. Discovered early many prefer not to rock the boat. Wish more had spoken out when the brown shirts began their rise. Wish more had spoken out when Churchill's actions were causing starvation of millions of Indians. Wish more had spoken out against the slave trade. Speaking out against Sennheiser's presentation box is nothing compared to atrocities, but nonetheless it bugs me. So I speak out. Will shut up now before accused of using audio forum to forward my off-topic elaborations. I can see how they would be mostly right about that too.

Well spoken. It doesn’t need to come with a big package as such. I always felt it is much useless. They may be reluctant to provide a carrying case, but they should learn from Apple. Even their macbook pro packaging is super slim, not to speak of their Iphone and Airpods.

Thank you for your reply Sennheiser.

Have already purchased said UP-OCC wires for an extra hp cable, but am sure yours are already excellent!...(doesn't harm to try safe alternatives - especially if able to make at reasonable cost).

Your decision to get things absolutely right (unlike Naim!!) after the initial demos is understandable, if a little frustrating...but preferable!

Re. the packaging...the aluminium box of the Beyer T1s is very comforting/reassuring...but mine too sits forlornly in the attic!!

ps. Am wondering why the "Buy Now" option disappeared from the Sennheiser UK site - is the price staying the same?...ie £1999 (incl VAT). Cheers!...CJ

Sorry if this is a repeat. Do we know if the 820 will pump up the bass compared to the 800S. I enjoyed my 800S but with certain genres. The bass was underwhelming for my taiste.

The midrange and treble will have about the same frequency response as the HD 800 S. Starting near 100 Hz as the frequency drops, the response will rise up several decibels above the HD 800 S and have greater extension into the subbass, and a natural fall off. The HD 820 will not be a “bass cannon,” but it will be appreciably warmer and more atmospheric in the lower bass regions. More to come soon in another Q&A release!

How do you achieve a "natural fall off" in the sub-bass region?

This is what I heard in the CanJamNYC demo. If that is improved upon or reaches even lower (again, not boomy, just quality full range extension that doesn't wimp out below 30 hz) these will stand as arguably the best closed headphones ever in my opinion. Now, you if you trickle this frequency response down to a HD670 (semi-open) and HD680 (closed) (HD660 style) to finally give that price category such a mix of non-fatiguing accuracy, comfort and sub bass that goes all the way down, keeping distortion under control, those would be extremely popular.
