Sennheiser HD800S Unveiled!

There were changes (to the better in my opinion), but the price difference is made up by the included balanced cable I'd say. It's not available without said cable though...

This can only mean:

The future is balanced!!!!

It's just consistent for them I guess: their own amp HDVD800 is balanced, so that's how they intend the HD800 to be driven.

When the HD800 was launched I guess that not many headphone amps had a balanced option. Now there are quite a number including as you say Sennheisers own amp and also quite a few other TOTL Headphone companies are putting a choice of cables in their box. To me it would have been more of a surprise if Sennheiser had not done this with the new HD800S so I don't get why so many people feel it is such a deal breaker.

looking forward to hear some HD800s vs modded HD800  impressions...

Seems like that's the big question on everyone's mind. But I have yet to hear a modded pair with more bass & treble extension, which is what Senn is claiming for the HD800S.

Or more likely, they want you to buy their amp along with their headphone.

Thats for sure
Of course its not the only good amp to power an HD800, but in my (rather short) experience its actually a nice looking and good sounding amp. I'll see if one comes attached to my upcoming HD800S...

This sounds great, but am I the only one who likes the original coloway more than this new one?
