Hi,

I am in market for a pair of decent cans. Mostly, I listen to newage, pop, country and some rocks, Occasionally classic and jazz. So, between the three headphones, which one is my best choice. Or is there any other good alternatives in this price range? $100 - $200?

Thanks,
dd

Never tried the 555 or 595, but I can swear by the 580. Been using these non stop for about 3 years now, and they sound amazing for any genre of music. Unbelievably comfortable too. Hardly know they're on my head and great ear warmers in the winter.

If it means anything to you, I prefer the HD595 to the HD650 in some ways. The HD580s sound a bit muffled to me.

I can't speak about the 555s, but the 595s are great all-rounders, while the 580s are amazing for new age and classical. Between the 595s and the 580s it's a trade-off. The 580s are amazing, much more detailed and much more extension and much blacker. But the 595s are more exciting, they have more punch and you'll find yourself getting into the music more. The 595s just add something, but they also leave something out. I know the 580s are more comfortable, but I'd still give the comfort nod to the 595s.
I don't know. The 580s need a good source and amp to shine, without those I'd say the 595s.

I used the 595s as my main can for months, I sold them after I got the Sony MDR-SA5000s. I bought the Senn 580s as a backup can for the SA5000s, however my SA5000s were in the shop for a week till last night getting the cable fixed, so it was all 580s for me.

I will say as said above, the 595s are more "fun" but not as accurate. They are a bit less detailed than the 580s, though the have a more 3D soundstage.

The 595s are brighter but nowhere near the brightness of my SA5000s, a totally different league of brightness. They still have the Senn "veil". The 580s have more refined trebel, the bass on both cans is bloated and unnatural.

The 580s also really, really need an amp. Unamped they sound like crap. They are 300 ohms vs the 595s 50 ohms. The 595s sound great unamped, though they do benefit from an amp also.

I'd say if you are only going to get one, and you dont have an amp get the 595s, if you will get more cans down the road then get the 580s.

The 595s are a great jack of all trades, they are fun all around cans, the 580s are a bit more specialized.

Thanks guys, so the comparision is clear, for 580s to sounds better, I need at least invest around $250, the headphone and the amp. But for 595 to win, I only need to pay $180 now.

I've both the hd580 and hd595. I like them both for different music. The 580 works better for classical and jazz stuff and the 595 works better for rock. It's a different presentation. You might like both or either. It's best you audition them first. The 580 definitely needs an amp. Otherwise it sounds dull.
