I'm just selling my MDR 1R and am in two minds about the above cans. I listen to exclusively EDM and Bass music, and like a fair amount of it. For me the 1Rs weren't quite there on the bass front.

From what I've heard the venerable HD25s might be a viable option, and I'm nearly sold on them, but the supraaural ear pads are an issue, as well as the universally accepted clamp. Maybe some velour earpads may be in order.

The Beyer COP seem good as well, and the V-Moda M80 seem a decent alternative too. My budget is roughly £120-180 but I'm a bit flexible.

How about the Amperior? I was once in a similar bind (M100 vs Amperior) and walked home with the Amperior due to better comfort and overall presentation.

I'll let this picture explain:

That's...not right. They sell, brand new, for <$200 USD.

Yeah but UK Amazon are simply diabolical, they sell loads of Head-Fi gear too expensive.

Just buy from the US, then. Even with shipping and taxes, you should be able to score one for 180 GBP.

I'd like to avoid that as it can get expensive eight he shipping and taxes. I'd prefer something I can get off Amazon or somewhere else in the UK

Also I'm now considering a Sony XB1000. Its more expensive than the others but the sound signature seems good. I'm a bit puzzled though; people say the bass isn't as boomy as the XB700, but it's still pronounced, right?

That's good to know, as some reviews said it has less bass than the 700s, and one thread even said "there's no bass at all!" so I think I'll get them now.

I like for EDM the VModa M80, good bass (more bass than mdr 1r obviously) and mids, little recessed highs, somewhat good isolation (However you can't expect like HD25 kind of isolation from the M80) and more comfortable than HD25 IMO
