Sennheiser HD 700 Impressions Thread

Well a lot of these names are quietly given to these things, but also doesn't appear as part of the ongoing marketing. When I searched for the name of the 600's, I only ever found them called "avantgarde" in old magazine articles from when they were initially released, but never saw that moniker used thereafter. They might even be names that were included in the product manuals, but then taken out after the initial manufacturing run.

Here's the video for you

I've owned the Sennheiser HD700 phones since 2016 and have never seen that video before today. Never even heard that moniker used with them.

Anyway, I'm still using my HD700. Will be modifying the Black Dragon cable I got for them with a 4-Pin XLR balanced connect, so I can use them with my Denafrips headphone amp in balanced mode.

I'm having the same conflict between the qutest or the dave. Guess its just a question of how long it will take
Qutest and Dave have a different sound signature. I am not saying one is better than the other, just different. The Mojo/Hugo/Qutest/TT2 are one family and the Dave is a distant cousin. i have owned most.

Added a friend to accompany my HD 700 OG today. I had to switch out the stock pads to a pair of Dekoni/s for Bluie. The stock pads are way to bright.

2 HD700? Im currently sanding mine down for a custom paint job. For a plastic headphone, it's damn good quality plastic

With the addition of the Lokius, I now enjoy my HD700 a whole lot more.

I bought a balanced Black Dragon headphone cable from Moon Audio for my Senn HD700 phones last year. I had them made with dual TRS (1/4) male ends to meet my then Teac UD-503 DAC balanced headphones out requirements.

Since I no longer us the UD-503, I’ve replaced the TRS ends with a single 4-pin XLR male connector to fit my Denafrips Artemis headphone amp, and they sound excellent.

One of the benefits of the Black Dragon cable is it tightens the bass on the HD700. Overall, the phones are warmer, less sibilant. This actually makes them hit harder than the HD800S in bass. For Dance, EDM, Rock R&B, I’ll be using the HD700, for Jazz, Fusion, Vocals, the HD800S.

Sennheiser HD700 still going strong after 8-years use :sunglasses:

I've had half a dozen pairs of the HD700 for the business and love the comfort. If you haven't tried the Modhouse Foam kit for them, it's worth $16 all day long. They stick on, so they pop right off cleanly as well. I got the Youkamoo balanced cables for $24 on Amazon and the Defean pads they ship now aren't the same as last year. They're much closer to Beyerdynamic micro velour like on the T90, and sound more similar to the stock pads without the $90 sticker shock from Sennheiser. For $16 they're a great value for money. I put them on the last four HD700's I had. The don't come with locking rings though, have to re-use the existing ones.
