I recall reading something about it, why the closed back was the first thing that came to mind. If they pull off a good closed back HD 6xx series headphone with comfortable pads I’m definitely interested. I wonder if it will use the HD 660S2 drivers (or variant of) or something else.

I had the same experience with the HD598 years ago, they were so close to my HD700s. : (

I still found a great purpose for 560S and AKG K702. My wife and I are using them for watching movies. The projector is just behind us, and it was a perfect solution for increasing the volume in the evening. For rumbling experience.
My wife with 560S, not letting them go, and I have K702.
I have changed pads on AKG, and now the bass is more prominent, which is great for movies. 560S already have enough bass, but adding more bass with new pads in the future wouldn't be such a bad idea.

I use my HD800S and HD660S2 for movies ,so there, ha!

I had not seen these until today...very interesting; I don't know what to think, very bold design, but shame, it's not for me, very girly (if that term exists)

Honestly it's the only thing in my fairly limited use that I thought the 660S2 really excelled at. Limited due to how toasty my ears get with the stock pads.

Seems a bit odd that an employee would make such a comment to a member of the public who is potentially going to then go & post this on a public forum & go as far as naming them?

There are strict NDA requirements when companies develop a new headphone product for many reasons. Any employee who spilled the beans early would most likely be terminated.
