Sennheiser HD 660S2 thread

I’m a sucker for exposed drivers.
Stretched nylon over the driver and clamped it down using the earpads.
Don’t mind the worn out pads, I switched them from the 660S. Whoever is buying those from me will enjoy the fresh new pads from the S2 :D

In a similar way (not in a silent way), I used mesh…

[HD-6XX is shown above, HD-660S2 was in use; that, too, received the ‘treatment’.]

What stops you from adjusting the clamp ?
Sliders are metal, so you can bend them as much as you like.
Few constructions are so easy to adjust.

On top is the HD660S bent fir comfort, bottom is the HD660S2 out of box. It is not much in total, but it helps a lot. The S2 is still in stock form, because I might ending up returning it. Which I highly doubt at day 3.

I blame my head being too big. Now it is Ok.*** Tomorrow morning the pads are touching again and the clamp force is too much.
*** did your head shrink? … 🤔🤣

HD 650 are my most comfortable headphones (and I have a few), because:
  • they are light;
  • ear cups are oval, just like my ears;
  • clamp is as strong as I like it (bending metal is not difficult).
I imagine that this is true for all 6xx series, including HD660S2 :)

It is not even necessary to bend the metal bands. A few nights with a book between the bands, holding them apart as when on the head, decreases the pressure as much as one desires, "opening" permanently the plastic band. Must be done without excess to avoid decreasing the pressure too much. Then, any HD-6## becomes the most comfortable headphones of all.
