I would like to ask if anyone has tried the 660S2 with the xDuoo TA-26 OTL amplifier (or DarkVoice 336SE, similar design...) ?

A bit of an aside but these made me sell my Sundara today. They're just going to get zero head time now that I have the S2, and I just bought and received the HD800s a few weeks ago.

The 800s and 660S2 are a ridiculous combo.

I've never tried the HD600, and it's currently on sale for $262 on Amazon. I'm considering grabbing it just to complete my stable, but I doubt it will get much time compared to the 660S2.

S2 is super sensitive to source change. I did not expect this.
Time to save up for something nicer.

Hi. I picked up the newer hd600 recently from Senn direct to .uk in a great sale new £210. These are the newer type in basic boxes with the grey head band. But I like them. I have the hd580 and hd660s too. I would get them , you could always return

I also recently bought 800s and have 660s as a complement, but I will probably upgrade my 660s to S2 when they go down in price, unless something new interesting comes out on the market, a sequel to Sundara maybe, that would be interesting.

I'd have to agree, with the HD660S there were subtle improvements on my Bryston BHA-1 over the very affordable SMSL HO100 but I'm finding this much more noticeable on the S2, even at different volume levels soundstage widens, bass is more authoritative and deeper and imaging is more 3 dimensional to name a few.
Now this could just be my imagination, but with the way the overall frequencies are presented I'm noticing a lot more ambient detail especially with the trailing ends of reverb and getting a finer sense of the actual venue acoustics so that each recording is quite distinct.
I'm going by memory but I don't recall ever getting that sense of neutrality from previous 600 versions, there was always a a specific tint applied.

I'm guessing the HD660S2 will positively impress quite a few people this weekend in NYC...
The HD-660S is well equipped. The bass and high treble of a headphone are lost first in a noisy environment. Headphones with slightly or more U shaped tuning are better perceived in such places.
When a well known reviewer listened to the reference-balanced NDH 30 last year in an exhibition, he said "just another headphone".:sweat_smile:

Have been swapping between the S2’s and NDH 30’s quite a bit today. They’re both great cans and would highly recommend both based on my time so far.

I need a lot more time with them both but I think the S2 is a safer option and would likely appeal more broadly with its warmer sound, NDH 30 is better if you’re after an alternative to studio monitors and probably compete more against the HD800S in terms of what they offer sound wise.
Soundstage NDH 30 also towards HD800S?

Today there are some new measurements on the hd660s2 and the fr response graph looks quite similar to some popular-modded hd600/hd650 . With the relative dip in the mids and jarring treble. But it is what makes people love modifying their 600/650. I think Sennheiser has been reading internet comments and implementing some acoustic changes like it did on the hd800s.
I promise myself to not buy any new headphone for the next few years cause I think my modded hd650 is the best hp I have bought . But my lonely heart and ocd brain now want to do otherwise ..
