Concur, nothing like a pair of HD 600 cans driven by tubes! The HD600 sounds amazing on a LD MKII, for me even better than with a Cayin HA-3A and HA-6A with the too soft sounding stock tubes.
I don´t know what is is, but the LD MKII gives the 600´s more soul, vibrancy, grunt and rumble.

Nice.
Not wanting the fans of the 600 to put my head on a pike... but a few weeks ago on a Liquid Platinum w/ Amperex Bugle Boys my HD-600 was topped so totally by a ZMF Auteur (yes much more expensive), that after about 25 minutes I cut the comparison short, and then the ZMF went on to bury my HE-6 SE and beat his HFM HEK Stealth on a Aune S17 Pro. Note: Musician Pegasus DAC and 24/96 & 16/144 sources.
Usually I find ZMF's to be too warm (too much mid bass and treble recession) and comfy sounding - but on this day it was a scythe through the other 3. Not expected.

Well, it is and should be true that there are a number of $1500 headphones that best the HD600 for 5X the price. I certainly hope guys spending that kind of cash on a pair of headphones can find a way to justify the expense.Nice.

Nice! OG or Auteur Classic? I definitely prefer my ZMF Auteur Classic to the HD600 in most cases. It’s also extremely responsive to changes in the source chain, like the 600. On the other hand, I recently sold my Aeolus recently in favor of the 6XX. Still haven’t found a headphone that can do what it does better.Nice.

No need to justify to anyone but themselves. If they bought it, then in fact it was justified.Well, it is and should be true that there are a number of $1500 headphones that best the HD600 for 5X the price. Classics. Its on the short list for my next and final headphone - and the only dynamicNice! OG or Auteur Classic? I definitely prefer my ZMF Auteur Classic to the HD600 in most cases. Oh cool! I think it’s quite worth being a final headphone. It’s also extremely malleable. If I plug it into the High-Z out of my Pendant, I get a warm, lush, spacious presentation, and if I use my solid state, I get a studio-like, squeaky clean quality. It’s like a chameleon.Classics. In risking taking this thread further off topic, what other headphones are on that short list?
And just seeing how often this isn’t true is a testament to how great the HD600 is. You have to go wayyy up in price to even have a chance to beat it at its own game.Well, it is and should be true that there are a number of $1500 headphones that best the HD600 for 5X the price.

Raal CA-1a - w/ the FilterSet
HEDD 2 - haven't heard - so ??
DCA Corinna (dreaming) - used minty Voce more like it
HFM HEK Stealth - probably off list now, used late version Susvara if/when a new version comes out
Final D8000 used to be on list - but cost and support issues knocked it off

New to the HD600. What I like about them is the way they disappear. All I hear is the music, like there’s no headphone there. And just seeing how often this isn’t true is a testament to how great the HD600 is. You have to go wayyy up in price to even have a chance to beat it at its own game.

It's a great piece for habituation - going back to speakers like the Dynaco A-25, or the NAD 3020 Integrated Amp. If that's the sort of equipment you have (sins of omission), its easy over time to hear them as musical - they are! HD-6**, HD-598, HE-500, and others that can be had under $500 that fit in that class.New to the HD600. What I like about them is the way they disappear. I've got at least 40-50 posts on how nice -> great the HD-600 is - esp on OTL amps. I'm not selling mine.
OTOH I won't put it up against that ZMF Auteur again so that sense doesn't erode

Not sure it helps - but in US on Amazon it's $295 new.
Going to need new pads. I'd offer 160 E.
