Sennheiser HD 600 Impressions Thread

Yes, why even think about changing pads?!?!

A. The standard pads are very comfortable velour which is vastly preferable to vinyl or 'faux' leather

B. The headphones are designed to sound correct by Sennheiser with the original pads. 20 years and they have found no reason to change.

I made the mistake of cheaping out and buying fake chinese earpads and headband instead of coughing up the dough for the real velour ones from sennheiser. Big mistake. The fake ones doesnt have the same feel or even the same sound as the real ones. They even make squeaking noises when disturbed. Lesson learned.

Really?! Where did you buy from? I also bought one but didn't have opportunity to listen with them since I sold a used 600 with the new pads from aliexpress. But I did listen a second and didn't feel wrong.
I bought from this:

People in this hobby consider amps, DACs, and cables as factors in the overall performance of their system, but often overlook pads, which can have a huge impact on the sound. Since the pad is a big part of the acoustic coupling, it makes sense that it will contribute significantly to the acoustics—it's somewhat akin to the room in which a pair of speakers produce their sound.

Headphones are usually voiced with their own pads in mind, since that's what the vast majority of buyers will be using, so getting as close as possible to the dimensions and materials of these is important to maintaining performance, except of course for the few cases (some HiFiMAN models come to mind) where specific pads can significantly improve the performance of a headphone not otherwise designed to use them.

I have a set of fairly new HD600's that I have fallen in live the sound. I have a set of T1's, T90's and several other cans and these 600's have fast become my
faovorite to listen with...I have a Bottlehead Mainline and Crack as well as a Schitt Vahalla 2 and a dozen SS amps. They all work very well.

But the amp that really pairs with these cans IMO is the BH Crack with Speedball...simply magical.....I have a dozen different sets of tubes but most all work very
well with these 300 ohm cans. Enough power to make your ears bleed.

Bass is tight, taunt, coherent, not bloated at all IMO. Makes all my music come alive once again!

BH Crack is Highly Recommended!!
