I really didn't want to open this thread, but after searching and reading and more searching and more reading I couldn't find any info on how does the these two Sennheiser IEMs compare to each other.
So far all I know is the CX55 has silver color, and has a normal lenght of cable. CX95 is gold colored, and has short cable, with a 1 meter long extension. Someone gets annoyed by the weight of the adaptor, just hanging there.
CX55 is "High Quality" CX95 is "High End", and Sennheiser used to give slightly different Tech Info, but I think that's just doublespeak.

Anyway, right now on amazon.co.uk
CX55 £19.34
CX95 £51.99

CX55 used to be more expensive (around £36, not long ago), but the price just dropped.

I'm about to pull the trigger on CX55, but hell if I know that it has the same SoundQuality as CX95 or not.

Why the hack is the difference between them

Anyone heard both of them before?

Man, this is so perplexing... sennheiser and its product codes...

I would like to know as well. At one point, I almost purchased the CX55 from Futureshop for 60$ USD. All I know, the CX95 is supposed to be the top model of the CX series, right behind CX6. Nobody knows where the CX55 fits on the CX product line.

got my CX95s this morning and i am mighty impressed , definately warmer than my custom 1/2 but lots of detail. Think it needs some burn in to tame the mild sibilance and bass bloat.
Cant imagine the 55 is anywhere near as good, if it is even 60% as good it is a bargain.

55, 95, or 550II

Go for the best you can afford.

Among those three, the 95 or 550 (which replaces the 95). The CX 550 has a shorter extension cord (one of the complaints of the CX 95 was the 1m extension cord), proper carrying case, extra tips (including double flange) and the better treble extension (based on the specs, but we all know not to trust this).

Guys I am blown away by the cx95s , I never expected the amount of detail to be so vast and the extension of the lows is outstanding.
If these improve with burn in I will be happy!

This probably won't be helpful, but from my experience with the MX55 and MX90, the Street series MX55 had more midbass, less treble, and overall less clarity, while the Style series MX90 is slightly more detailed with a very balanced sound. I'm not entirely sure, but it wouldn't surprise me if this trend extended to the CX55 and CX95 canalphones as well.

Just a warning, the £19.34 CX55 from Amazon UK is via its marketplace seller which is most likely fake from China. Only buy items delivered by Amazon itself or risk getting yourself burned.
