Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

Superb Friday evening listening, just out on various outlets (picked it on Qobuz). I feel so privileged for having been able to catch Ibrahim in an extended gig in Oakland right before the pandemic. Feeling, deep cross-cultural inspiration, and commitment to peace in music, only matched by Charles Lloyd in my book.

Yoshi's?

When we bought this house, built in 2006, we noticed all the outlets were installed with the grounds facing up. Somebody (the builder?) said it's to prevent a kid from crossing the hot & neutral and getting fried. I could see how that might happen, if the parents are completely vacuous people, but having my tinkerbell nightlight upside down just messed me up.

Here's a good album to test the dynamic range of your system:

I listened to it again last night through Gumby > Asgard 2 > Sundaras. It's amazing how much air pressure the Sundaras can build up.

A properly wired home will only have 20Amp/12AWG branch circuits. The use of 15Amp/14AWG branch circuits is the result of cheapism.

What's scary is when you end up with 20A breakers on a 15A circuit.

For me, this pretty much sums up everything that's to be said about that topic.

Well, crap. In my defense, I was responding to a post on the page BEFORE this post. :)

I've been way too self-indulgent in tube rolling for my two 2A3 based SET amps, why stop now
yeh don't stop. lament I did stop, but, maybe I'll rebuild these SETH PP amps...maybe

I also asked over on AVSForum for some suggestions regarding computer speaker setups. One of the people over there recommended that I buy the AIYIMA A07 instead of the Rekkr. But previously when looking at Rekkr reviews I came across this one where he talks about the Rekkr being much better at desktop listening levels.

Does that match everyone's experience? I know the A07 and T9 Pro are different, but they're both class D amps from the same company.

I'm trying to transition over to a mostly Linn system. I wasn't impressed by the speakers at CAPFest but man! do they know their software, music and DSP!

My go-to test for bass and everything, really, is Berlioz's Requiem; esp Dies irae, the second movement.

Try the 1959 RCA Red Seal recording with Munch and the Boston Symphony, produced by Richard Mohr and engineered by Lewis Layton.

Am I the only one who finds that the Six Moon reviews are filled with really dense text that's hard to understand? I'm sure they mean well, I just struggle to understand what they're actually saying.

I read a couple of his reviews a few years ago and quickly starting avoiding his reviews. It's like the author is on a relentless mission to prove to himself how smart he is.

Even if you understand what he's writing, it's still annoying.

No, you are not the only one. I used to read through his website just for a laugh because that's all it is really good for...

It takes me about 6 full moons to figure out what Srajan is saying half the time.

I find six moons reviews the editorial version of maximalism as opposed to more straight to the point minimalism editorial style. I think that six moons reviews are an acquired taste that I have yet to acquire.
