Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

The best sounding phono pre I ever owned (back when I still considered dragging rocks across plastic a good way to reproduce music) was a pure magnetic pre made by Rupert Neve (he of mixing board fame.) It was about 12 pounds of transformers and an analog RIAA EQ circuit. And yes it created large fields and interferred with everything - you had to keep it at least a foot from any other component. :)

These mini-radials look ... familiar
I moved on to other things but I know the build and I could always do more.🤪 I get bored easily so I need new challenges. 😉

Look closer. At voltages that drive headphones to volume levels that don't leave you with hearing damage, the Kara does very good. Even with low impedance.

How Amir "heard distortion" on the DCA Stealth is unclear. Did it lose bass control? Treble distortion? He then switched to an open back DD and said "all good" You can't get any useful information from his subjective review. Hence the general vitriol around here against his site and reviews.

Kara will drive any headphone you have wonderfully. His graphs and charts don't say otherwise. I drive DCA Stealth with a Folkvanger with excellent results. That has multiple times worse THD than Kara. But, I don't listen over 70-80db continously. Therefore I'm not torturing the amp.
Excellent feedback and good points. Thank you.

Why not a crossover, (2 or 3 ways), to insert between Saga and several Rekkrs, or balanced, between Kara and several Gjallarhorn? And so we finally leave aside passive crossovers and go for the best speakers at reasonable prices!
Just say...
Yes please!

The xover would need a phase switch as well.

Imagine playing small towers 30-40hz up like we did in car audio? dream come true

Jason has hinted that a Yggdrasil "More is More" MIM version is coming that will be the swan-song of the A2/OG DAC.

Otherwise, maybe a DDC or Urd without the CD transport?

That would be awesome but I doubt the market for that is big enough and it would need to be adjustable or customizable. Not gonna happen

Sooo ... by "look familiar" I meant those are the exact ones that are sitting on my desk!!
I get a daily dose of great appreciation for your handy-work Tom

You can see one of them playing "peek-a-boo" behind the ZMF Eikon :eyes:

A favorite, I have always liked Cohen’s works and my daughter’s middle name comes from his song Suzanne.😉
