I have calibrated and repaired lots of equipment and instrumentation in my time.

btw, when my little Tesla coil is in operation it puts out around 200,000 volts.
I have also calibrated voltage probes up to 30,000 volts.
Carefulness is certainly indicated.
You clearly have a lot of potential.

Oooh, now I see. Your from Italy.
In order to know if you know how to cook pasta, there's only one question:
Does your mother still cook for you?

Only when I visit her on the weekends. I’m pasta specialist at home even if my girl is a very good at cooking. I am on the “cucina laida e corrotta” side of the force.

I must admit Loki reincarnate and the gadget is intriguing. but leaves me in a weird spot. Out side of in vehicles I do not use EQ or external DSP. After all its not needed is you have good gear, right? But as a wannabe audiophile I audition transducers, DAC's, Pre amps etc like many others looking for that perfect sound, well perfect to me at least. Hell Even with tube amps we search for that perfect tube combo. If done right is Eq or DSP really a bad thing? Is it that much different that swapping tubes out? .Having used EQ's in the past I am not opposed to them but I have used enough that harmed more than they helped. However there have been many times where an eq was just what the doctor ordered to fine tune a system to the room or your liking. But the Audiophools say we should listen as the artists intended so this can't be right. Then again they also say that a Compressed, DRM format is the Schitt and what the artist intended. What the hell do they know and how stupid do they think we are? Some new Schitt is On the Xmas wish list.

"The Gadget" on the other hand does not seem like anything I have had experience with.Sure there are DSP's out there but non that seems to follow the philosophy taken by Schiit in its development. Am I Intrigued? yes. Is it Wyrd as rmoody put it ?... yes. I don't even know if i will like it. But what the hell. I took a calculated leap of faith with Mikes crazy ass Multi Bit Dac and now I will never look back, Multibit or bust. The Mani is the deal of the century in my opinion if you still like spinning disks. That seemingly crazy, sometimes seemingly belligerent man known as Mr. Moffat can walk the walk with a special kind of swagger . I don't know what to expect with the gadget but I am willing to take a leap of faith once again.

Aside. Mike Moffat should be the new Most Interesting man in the world. The Tag line would be " I don't always Listen to pop but when I do it ain't *** MQA"

I am still hoping die plattenspieler is not ugly. No. Really. I am really hoping the Sol is aesthetically pleasing to my eyes and affordable to my level of income. I do not need another turntable but if I want one that is an entirely different matter. If it is good looking (to me) and affordable (to me) then I will work toward buying one and (*GASP*) actually using it!

It is named for the Norse Goddess of the Sun, is it not? How can there be a ugly Norse goddess?

With a name like Schiit, it just has to be good.

Hey ORT,

Long time. I am also intrigued by SOL. Sounds like it will be affordable. I have a beautiful Dual and a cheap 70's Technics but one can never have too many turntables.

OK. Last post. I got my Modi 2 today, my third Modi after Modi 1 and Mimby. I finally got to hear my Vali 1 again. It has been a while. Vali 1 is a keeper. I know there are some problems with microphonics, but mine just sings for a few seconds after turn on. Vali 1 is a superb little amp.

I am an alchemist. Hence the colanders.
Constanza hates catnip and fish.
She only eats chicken and drinks running water.
Pees only on a fresh, clean towel in front of her litter box which she uses only for schiiting.
She hates violin music and leaves the room when I play it.
She a bit of a peculiar babe.

Ahhhh... The perfect housemate......

No so much "reception" as "transmission" -- at least, if you consider broadband noise to be a transmission mode. Although broadband spark gap transmission has been illegal since 1924 in the US. (and probably the ITU, too.)

I thought illeagle wuz a sick raptor........:L3000:

The Gen5 USB card should reach my sweaty hands by midweek....

Which of the big 3 violin concertos do you prefer the most. Brahms, Bruch or Mendelssohn Bartholdy...?
Johann Sebastian Bach, The suites for solo Cello.
Real big violins.
