Schiit Happened: The Story of the World's Most Improbable Start-Up

I must say, this is the most diverse and interesting thread on the site.  Thanks to the moderators for letting it continue in a somewhat controlled fashion :).
Personally, I am looking forward to the Schiit 2-channel gear announcement.  In the meantime, loving the sound from my Gumby.

Hey all,

I don't think I'll have a chapter this week (definitely next week), but I thought I'd give you a quick overview of how the year is shaping up, product-wise.

First, you'll see us at TheShow Newport, with no new products. We'll be in a speaker room with Ragnarok and Yggdrasil and a set of speakers, still TBD. We have lots of great options we can choose from! (And yeah, I'm sure we'll have a pair of HD800S or Ethers there if anyone wants to listen to headphones when the speakers aren't playing.)

Second, expect another SchiitShow this summer, most likely in August. We may have a new, inexpensive, and (probably) surprising product BEFORE the show, but the SchiitShow will showcase what we expect to be a real show-stopper--something that will make an entire class of products look very, very "last decade." (And no, not a Gen 3 product...we're talking entirely new.)

Third, expect to see new products at Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, in both our speaker room and at CanJam. Expect to be very surprised at their feature sets and prices. Expect a lot of chatter from the stratospheric-price rooms about these products. I won't say more, but if you've been reading along, you know at least some of what's coming.

And we may have another surprise or two along the way...(and, of course, we can have production setbacks that mean things may not play out exactly the way I outlined, but things are pretty far along, and I'm not being very specific, so we should be OK.)

Aaaaannnnd...that's it. Back to prototyping!

All the best,
Jason

You just ensured that I'm freezing my audio equipment purchases (except for headphones) until all of that new gear comes out...

I was going to buy a Vali 2 but now I'm curious, I'll try to have self control and not buy it for a few months but I don't know if I'll succeed.

In case I wasn't clear--nothing being introduced will replace any of our current products. The Gen 2 products are VERY hard to improve upon, without adding significant cost.

Translation for the uninitiated:
First, nothing new to show at TheShow Newport, same old, same old.
Second, SchiitShow will display Manhattan technology and feature the Gadget for the first time ever in public.
Third, at RMAF expect 2-channel wares with weird topologies at industry-spanking prices.

Does this sound about right? :)

Seems to me, most important after the transducer would be the source. Digital but not a DAC. I think it is something like the ELAC Discovery, but with a twist... Think the brainy centerpiece of your system. I think that would be awesome, and I think it is the new way people would be building their audio racks today, if they were starting from scratch... Hopefully they also do a tube DAC, as they already have demonstrated stong competence with both tube amps and DACs... Whatever they do, I know it will be fun, good sounding and fairly priced. Exciting time!

With the right electronics, any decent source and any decent transducer can be made to sound better.  Just ask Mike Moffatt about his Big Dac.  Or ask Bob Carver...
