i did with my old preamp (decware ) it worked for that preamp. i had this in my junk box and stuck it up there , ill listen more closely over the weekend and get back to you. i bought them used for next to nothing.

I ask this question because I cannot understand how these things work-----not that I believe that they do not work, but because I need to understand how.

It has 128 steps. Are you saying you want 128 LEDs?

Make it a binary row of white LEDs. Problem solved and you only need 7 or 8.

It needs to have the full color spectrum.

Appears he would be happy living with a Yggy, Rag, LS50 system until the end of days (but it's his job to listen to other stuff), he's had that system for almost a year now.

Yes, Stereophile praises the sound and musicality of the Yggdrasil, but they seem far less impressed with the measurements. I heard the Yggdrasil/Ragnarok combo at THE Show driving Salk speakers and was very impressed. Hmm, I wonder how that combo would sound with my Zu Audio speakers?

There's not much Schiit can do about that, they're using the best multibit industrial DACs out there but they weren't intended for audio use and won't measure as well as S/D DACs that have had 17 years of revision.

Got my Freya up and running.

Is there a Freya listening impressions thread yet?  I can't seem to find one.

In the mean time, does anyone know how many dB each step on the 128 step attenuator represents?

  From the Schiit website:

Volume Control: relay-switched stepped attenuator with discrete thin-film resistors, 128 0.625dB steps

Thanks. I was guessing .5 dB -- was pretty close.

I gather the review is print only for now and not online yet?

I recall they had trouble measuring Ragnarok because they weren't prepared for the microprocessor controlled bias. Don't recall anything ever said about Yggy....yet. Anyway here's the "Recommended Component" blurb which sums it up.
