The truly sad part is that 62 people are out there ruining LPs right now...

I will neither confirm nor deny that it could go fast enough to hydroplane the front wheel on dry pavement, leaving the rider without front steering control. :)
I spent some time riding (?) a friend's heavily modified Z1R-TC, and it didn't steer 50% of the time... because the front wheel was a foot off the ground.

Hana to VPI, VPI to Schiit Skoll via balanced, Skoll to McIntosh C50 via balanced, McIntosh C50 to McIntosh MC152 via balanced, McIntosh C152 to Sonus faber Sonetto VIII. It sounds amazing.
Gorgeous!!!

Are you sure? I mean it could have been @bcowen buying one 62 times. He does have the 'hoarder' gene, after all.

Skoll really helped, though I will upgrade to Stjarna when that comes out.
Yep. I have my eye on things… by the time Stjarna comes out, I may have my Classe’ DR6R back from service… then I could do an epic 3 way thunderdome to see how the Schiit pair compares against what I found to be the best phono/pre in 1990. I figure, I can’t lose.

I wonder if Stjarna will have built in phono gain? And/or if so, also tube? Or? Given what was accomplished with Kara (and Skoll) at that parts budget, I shudder to think of the next level.

Another decent tube for Vali 3.
Thanks Tom!
Alex

I do not wish to settle for decent.

(Hmmmm. Perhaps one man's decent is another man's AWESOME!! I know I have a pair in my noval tube storage bin.)

** Yes, I have separate bins for noval tubes, octal 6SN7 type tubes, and octal power tubes.

The vinyl gods would have blown me away with a tornado for LP abuse by now if that was the case. Fortunately, they haven't yet seen the 3 quarters I have taped to the headshell.... 🤣

Somewhere in OK, a coffee shop waitress went without her tip so @bcowen could listen to his records. 😏

Yup for sure...its a really good tube...
But for me awesome is reserved for the over the top experience regardless of the stuff used...

I love playing with the tubes for sure, but many times most sound well "decent" to me and thats pretty good...LOL!

When I plug in the cans into the very decent Schiit Midgard, same dac with the same cans, it gets really close to my Awesome...
Its just clearer, more transparent and awes me at times with the listening experience.

That good...

But having tubes, being raised up in their hey-day they are fun to listen with...nostalgic for sure often...

My brain seems to like the higher impedance cans on tube amps, planars etc lower impedance on the SS amps...yeah wierd I know..

Recently found this and man does it sound good thru a schiit stack. If you don't have time for the whole thing, start at the 34 minute mark.

Oh gosh I grew up on this stuff!!
Remember going into the local audio store with Tubular Bells, Frankenstein, and ELP's Lucky Man!!!
Wow!!

Best not to make assumptions on another's finances. 75 cents is pocket change for me. 🤣 🤣
