I'm not an iPhone user, but there are plenty of people who do, including for use with listening through headphones to music.
Just read this on CNN, and thought it was worth sharing with this community.
If you believe the rumors, your next iPhone might come without a headphone jack.

The rumors suggest that iPhone users will have to use headphones with lightning port plus. Would such headphones have the DAC in them, or would the digital-to-analog conversion be done by the iPhone audio chipset?
