Sorry if something like this has already been asked, I'm new here. I'm just curious what rock albums sound the best with a good set of headphones. I listen to mostly rock, including classic/alternative/hard rock/metal/indie. One album that I have found sounds great with headphones is Alice in Chains Unplugged. So if you have any suggestions or favorites list them.

I recently got that and Im not much of a fan but it does sound great. This is a good question because a lot of rock just sounds ok or even bad, but some can sound fantastic. If you consider the Eagles rock, they sound pretty good. Guns N' Roses sound pretty good to me too.

Pretty much anything by Rush. Nick Caves newer albums sound great also. Eric clapton unplugged.

Andrew Bird, if you can consider him rock, sounds fantastic.

Mastadon - Crack The Skye
Kings of Leon - Only By Night

Check out Fleetwood Mac Rumors...Especially the beginning of The Chain...something I never heard over speakers.

Anything by Roger Waters - you miss sooo much detail on speakers, unless you REALLY crank it up.

Auberge is a nice little gem from Chris Rea that shines on headphones.

Out of the Blue - ELO.. sounds awesome on headphones. Mr Blue Sky especially is fabulous on Headphones..

And War of the Worlds - Just to hear the richness of Richard Burtons voice.

and OK Computer sounds pretty good too.

But at the moment my go to record to jam out / chill out and relax with my glass of scotch is Jimi Hendrix Electric Ladyland LP (polydor UK press version). Amazing record as all of you must know and this version is the best I've heard.

Gotta agree with Moving Pictures, DSOTM and Aja

Here are a few more that I almost always go wow when I listen to on headphones

The Downward Spiral by NIN
The Wall by Pink Floyd
Lateralus by Tool
Recordings by Porcupine Tree
Amused to Death by Roger Waters
A Pleasant Shade of Grey by Fates Warning
Awake by Dream Theater
Rage Against the Machine by RATM

On the other hand here are some albums that I've almost always felt sound better on speakers

Brother in Arms by Dire Straits
Ray of Light by Madonna
Radiohead albums (Kid A and Amnesiac in particular)
Thriller by MJ
Nickel Creek
Pulse by Pink Floyd
Jean Michel Jarre albums
