Jan, could you please elaborate the last one about the treble being recessed.

Don't get me wrong--can it sound good with an entry- to mid-level rig? Yes. Can it sound great that way? Most probably not. Will you wring out the vast performance potential the HD-600 has with such a rig? That's pretty much a guaranteed "no."

i think we can say that for almost every pair of good phones. it isn't new that the headphones put out what they are fed with.
but do you think that the basic sonic signature (in which each of us can see the potential, to his taste) really change that much, until it can be totaly unrecodnizble, when fed with the most hi-end gear?

i feel disappointment a bit, for the same size soundstage you mention.. you have a good rig to show differences.
and if i understand, the stimulation factor ain't really different..
i see that Sennheiser didn't try to make a different story with the new model.
but do you feel that there's a chance that people that didn't like the 600 can like the 650?

Jan,
I will be looking forward to this! I hope that you will leave the stock cable on the Sennheiser HD-650.

Sennheiser should use this in their marketing of the 650: buy a pair and join for free Head Fi's Team Too Broke To Buy Food After Buying HD650 and lose 10 lbs. Diet Plan!
