Review of Audio Technica ATH-IM01, ATH-IM02, ATH-IM03, ATH-IM04, ATH-IM50, & ATH-IM70

IM70 has more subbass than IM50 where the latter is more mid-bassy. They both don't have the bass quality/quantity of CKR9 though which is the best I've heard so far. IM70 has a bit wider soundstage and reveals more details especially in the midrange and more balanced overall. Hope this helps:wink:

I see, thanks. When is the new E series coming out?

Balanced armature IEMs sound bad on Sony DAP's. Ck100pro sounded like trash on many Sony players I have owned for example. I have IM04 and had IM02, CKR9, IM50. 04 definetly more bass than im02 and ckr9. Bit less than im50. Quality is amazing- it hits so hard and goes deep.

I just bought these im03 used because I wanted something around $300. Smooth mids wide soundstage crystal clear vocals great detail and analytical for pop edm kpop rap. I will be using my Fiio dap and what kind of tips do you guys recommend? for isolation and maybe better overall sound quality?

For isolation nothing really beats foam, like Comply.

Personally, I'm not a fan of foam. I feel it buddies the sound a little.

JVC Spiral Dots are my favorites with the IM03. I've never had a problem with their level of isolation. Not saying it's the best, only that it's been good enough for me.

Also try Ultimate Ears 600 or 900 tips.

Wide-bore tips (JVC Spiral Dots & UE600) will keep the treble and upper vocals clear of any harshness and brilliance, which the IM03 is prone to.

JVC spiral dots are brilliant on those, soundstage also opens up a bit and it sounds less congested compared to stock tips.

I use L on my comply foams and fits well. Will L work or will M be fine?

IMO comply will fit almost any ear size . Im not sure how big your ears are so best go to some audio store and ask ppl working there for a demo or something.

In that case i would ask around in help and introductions.

Some people have a large collection of eartips so they might be able to help you.

Get the L size if you use L size comply tips. JVC Spiral Dots tips are a bit smaller than standard tips.

Thanks I wil get the jvc tips after I try all my tips I have. Do you guys think the im03 is a upgrade over my dunu dn 1000? And does upgrading the cable make a difference in sound quaility on the im03?

I was thinking about getting the im04 but I heard some prefer the im03 over the im04
