This is a question for owners of HD700 who have bought original Sennheiser replacement earpads (part number 549062).

When I order replacement pads from Sennheiser (part 549062), do they come with baffle rings or without them?

In case you wonder What is a baffle ring, it is this part:

Earpads with baffle rings look like this (you can see the baffle ring on the left earpad):

Earpads without baffle rings look like this:

The above two photos are from 2 online stores that sell Sennheiser parts, from part number 549062 product pages. I emailed them but got no response. I also asked this (a few times) in the HD700 impressions thread but got no response there either, maybe I'll have more luck with a separate thread.

The problem is I have HD700s but I bought them incomplete, without earpads, dust covers and baffle rings. So this (and cable) is all I have:

You probably should have posted in the help sub forum...

If you buy from Sennheiser, it probably comes with the ring. The HD800/S pads comes with the ring so I don't see why the HD700 wouldn't.

Maybe I should've posted there.

In any case, when I wrote "And the answer is no" I meant that it does not come with the ring. It does come with the thin plastic with clips that catch the baffle ring (the one under the sleeve, seen in the 3rd pic above), but not the baffle ring. So now I have to order the part separately. Plus, my local distributor does not have it and has to order from the manufacturer. They told me it's going to take at least three weeks.

I think you meant the earpad ring. In HD800 that part looks different and I imagine it normally stays in the baffle when you remove the earpad. In this pic, the HD800 baffle ring is the part on the right:

Unfortunately in HD700 it appears to easily come off with the earpad, which is probably why I got my HD700 without them.

Oh well. I'll wait, hope they can get it for me.

The HD700 earpad (part 549062) does not come with the baffle ring.

PS Thank you for the post. I did not know about the baffle ring until now and I had the hardest time getting the new earpads to lock in.

The HD700 earpad (part 549062) does not come with the baffle ring.

Yes, I found that out in December when I bought the earpads from Sennheiser and they came without the rings (I mentioned that above). Luckily the local Sennheiser distributor managed to order the rings for me and I eventually got them, too.
But I'm glad this thread has benefited someone :)
